telengard Posted February 15, 2014 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Finally got a power supply and the time to try out this Indus GT drive I've had for a while. It's passing initial diags and somewhat working, but I noticed in the field service manual, there is reference to a program called "GTDDC.COM". Does anyone happen to have this program and/or the BASIC source to type in? Even better are the disks that came with the system available anywhere, mine came with just the drive itself. James Checking with a sector editor (I don't have my A8 set up ATM), reveals that 'Atari 800 Basic v.1.0 (1981)' is on the disk. The same sector also says "written by Weiland and Gates". Gee, did Bill ever code anything himself? I always thought he just bought the rights for stuff others had developed and then claimed it was his own work, MS-DOS being the most prolific example. I may be wrong... re-atari No - back in the mid 70s, Bill did actually code, in ASM even. He definitely did lots of the code for their early BASIC versions. telengard Posted February 16, 2014 Author Share Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Using my 810 I was able to run this and test out the GT. The 'GT' program was the only thing I could get to run. There are options for "Next Test" and "Boot Disk" but they didn't seem to respond when pressing the corresponding keys. I wonder if the "Next Test" just runs the same test over (which wouldn't make sense since it seems to loop) or if there are more tests. Good news is, according to the program that is fine. I had made the Level 2 diag connector and that fails w/ an H4 (Bus Interface Test). Pinned out the connector multiple times to ensure it was correct. I would think if that wasn't passing, I wouldn't be able to do /anything/. The issue I'm having is that after reading just a little from a disk, the drive errors out w/ what looks to be a 'G5' error code. I'm still hunting for the GTDOC.COM program also since it does not seem to be on any of the disks I downloaded at the retrobits site. <keeps poking around> Edited February 16, 2014 by telengard Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Cabi~#599 Posted February 27, 2021 Share Posted February 27, 2021 (edited) 26 February 2021 Regarding GT-DOC (GTDOC.COM), to clarify what is on post #16, there is a file named "DIAGS" in the INDUSGTD.ATR file that does the same thing as the original GTDOC.COM. The additional files in INDUSGTD.ATR includes Atari 800 Microsoft BASIC on the disk. You must boot INDUSGTD.ATR and let it go into Microsoft BASIC for Atari 800 and then you can do the command: RUN"D:DIAGS.* " and the equivalent of GTDOC.COM will boot up. Now you can choose the option(s) you want to run, including the ROM Version number of your Indus GT. I attached INDUSGTD.ATR below as well as all of the individual files that is within the .ATR file. Remember, the file "DIAGS" is the equivalent to GTDOC.COM. Cabi~ Post#16 quoted below.
