adam242 #7 Posted February 18, 2014 Had a couple of goes at Catterpiggle. Not seen this one before. Seems like you don't die when those things catch up with you if you're busy munching? Yep. If you touch a 'patrolman' and the snake simultaneously they get eaten. And you score 500 points.

+therealbountybob #9 Posted February 19, 2014 My first meager offerings..Crossfire is a challenge Crossfire: 2340 It does take a bit of getting used to but you can get on a roll - seem to remember fly past shooting sprees worked well and keep changing positions. Be sure to grab those bonuses too! Welcome to GornThrifting, we are honoured to have your first AtariAge post BASIC PROGRAMMING As some of you may have seen I've been programming a game for the Nomam 2014 BASIC Ten-Liners Contest; Gwobby Micro is ready to launch! Unsuprisingly the idea is to write a game in 10 lines of BASIC, just for fun... yes we know how to enjoy oursleves I've also been one of those assisting BoatOfCar with some example programs in his 'Valentines Day learn to program project', though he has jumped right in; a good starter BASIC program is here. If there is anyone here who wants to get started and perhaps make a game, it doesn't have to be good (good job for me eh?!), then I'm happy to help. All you need to do is have a DOS Disk/ATR to save onto, load up the Atari or emulator with BASIC enabled (altirra: system, firmware, basic) and get typing

adam242 #13 Posted February 21, 2014 A few (small) improvements from me: 6930 on Chomper 3150 on Crossfire Caterpiggle's not clicking with me tonight. I had one decent game going - 63K and 4 lives - and then the game crashed. Wouldn't let me out of my 'pen' on level 10 or 11. It's Spy Hunter all over again! McKong #14 Posted February 21, 2014 I've got no idea how I got 29k on Crossfire last time we played it, I can't get anywhere near that now! Bob, I would check to see if there was a screenshot that went with that record

Wouldn't let me out of my 'pen' on level 10 or 11. It's Spy Hunter all over again! Sometimes there is so much piggle that the poor little chap can't move out I've got no idea how I got 29k on Crossfire last time we played it, I can't get anywhere near that now! Bob, I would check to see if there was a screenshot that went with that record I seem to have lost it too... gotta get the hang of the keep changing position mentality and the 'fly by' where you move first and then hold fire to zap down several rows. I've tried with the "new" version, jpystick to move with keyboard for firing, seems pretty good once you get in the zone

Benighted #22 Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) Crossifre: 5710 Caterpiggle: 16990 Chomper: 6430 I became too adddicted to Crossfire and didn't spend a lot of time on Chomper and Caterpiggle :-) How are you guys playing these games? I found that Crossfire worked very good with emulator and a PS2 controller. I also loaded the games onto the AtariMax and played them on the XEGS with various joysticks and gamepads, but the emulator approach gave the highest score. Caterpiggle wouldn't load on the AtariMax cartridge.. Edited February 23, 2014 by Benighted

ballyalley #25 Posted February 23, 2014 I've been playing Chomper. It's a pretty good, if basic, game. Several times I've come down to one dot left and the baddies protect it for a LONG time. I couldn't find docs... and didn't expect to need them, but I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't some way to eat those baddies. I mean, what sort of Pac-Man clone doesn't let you do that?!
