VectorGamer #1 Posted February 17, 2014 Twin Galaxies was an American organization that tracks video game world records and conducts a program of electronic-gaming promotions. It operates the Twin Galaxies website and publishes the Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records, with the Arcade Volume released on June 2, 2007. The Guinness World Records - Gamers Edition 2008 was released in March, 2008 in conjunction with Twin Galaxies, who Guinness World Records considers to be the official supplier of verified world records to the annual volume.[1] In late 2013, after more than 30 years as the preeminent record-keeper of video game world records, Twin Galaxies appears to be defunct, its website and record database are no longer accessible. As of February 2014, there has still been no official word from the current owner as to whether Twin Galaxies will return, fueling speculation among past members that the company is gone for good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Galaxies U mad? +HatNJ #4 Posted March 19, 2014 Whether the reports are true false or in between Will the gaming world suffer if TG is gone for good??? It served its purpose back in the day but now with social media various websites that take scores TG is really not needed anymore if a gamer wants to set records choose the site ya want and post even the Guinness book of world records doesn't recognize Twin Galaxies anymore as the source for records just let it die and gamers can remember it how ever they want

There's a minority of gamers that won't let it die. I can't believe someone would actually pay $70,000 for Twin Galaxies.

Goochman #7 Posted March 28, 2014 I was a Ref when TG was a loose band of folks doing it for fun in their spare time. Once Day sold to Pete it was apparent that they want to make a company around it which was fine. In order to do that for a High Score Gaming site you need to really sell merchandise and create alignments with the major vendors. Gamers will never pay enough to have their scores 'verified', you need to make money elsewhere. I made this point when a call was put together to talk about the new funding model. That was the last call I was on due to my participation was non-existent by then. Once the 'new' site was created last year and the forums axed I stopped going to the site. There is no place for a site like this as a 'pay' service. MSFT, Sony, or Nintendo need to run a program like this as a value add to their network services and such. Just my $0.02. +HatNJ #8 Posted March 31, 2014 Seems Twin Galaxies is not dead and after reading the posting on site eh I still say it will not be relevant in today's world of gaming
Goochman #9 Posted March 31, 2014 Well - atleast they are returning to a system of free submissions. Not sure how the adjudicating system is going to work - I know as a Ref I got swamped with submissions and I was handling the Colecovision which wasn't the most popular by far for stuff. It mentions there was a 'Forum' on the site that was run last year - if there was I never saw it. Im glad they are going to return alot of the info from the old forum. Despite the arguments there were some really good threads of info buried. Ill check it out once things are running again. If they make it easy then why not use TG?
