Intellfan #1 Posted February 20, 2014 I was trying to fix my intv 3 but the board is a little different then a Intellivision 1 so I couldnt do it. Here it is before I toss it . If anyone wants it I took two chips out the rest are soldered in. If nothing else you can see what one looks like .
+intvsteve #2 Posted February 20, 2014 Ouch! Which parts weren't compatible? I thought they were supposed to be pretty much the same as far as the main chips go.
HunterZero #3 Posted February 20, 2014 There is a CP1610A in there, which is shorter than the CP1610... Otherwise looks to be very similar. The RA-3-9600 SRAM and the STIC have been pulled. Still worthwhile parts in there - Sound chip for a start. What did you do to the board so far to try and get it going?
+Lathe26 #4 Posted February 20, 2014 Just curious: there is a chip on the right side of the board that has a crystal oscillator bent over it. What does the chip's label say?

Steve I am still very new to this, working on the board .Chips did not have same numbers and most were solder in so I stopped . I took the two chips I could pull .one of them I think is bad . But if anyone wants this for parts I will ship if you pay shipping.

Intellfan #9 Posted February 20, 2014 I have another question for you guys if you don't mind . I am working on yet another intellivision LOL . I put a new Matrix in left controller and I thought it was working great. but after playing some it is doing something I have never see happen . I was playing Space Armada and the bunkers were blinking real fast and my bullets would go right threw the bad guys. dungeons and dragons my guy was blinking real fast and on River raid I could fly threw some enemy ships. I am guess it is some kind of chip any idea which one? if nothing else I am getting a good bone pile . any help would be great thanks Mark

There is hardware sprite collision detection in the STIC. - J

dcasa #12 Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Are the sound chips of that board any different from earlier models? I recall a subtle change in the way AD&D:ToT sound effects sounded when I switched from my Super Video Arcade to the newer INTV System III. HunterZero #13 Posted February 21, 2014 Are the sound chips of that board any different from earlier models? I recall a subtle change in the way AD&D:ToT sound effects sounded when I switched from my Super Video Arcade to the newer INTV System III. Possibly... Early Intellivisions used AY-3-8914 PSG chips. AY-3-8916 PSGs were apparently used in Intellivision 2s and System IIIs, and that looks like what this one has (although it's a bit blurry...). Was the RAM chip an RA-3-9600 or RA-3-9600A? - J

Intellfan #15 Posted February 21, 2014 Pics? They should be marked clearly on the underside (pin side). They were only marked with these numbersC21033B and L24005EN no STIC or ram
HunterZero #16 Posted February 21, 2014 Try cleaning the legs of the chips and reseating them.
HunterZero #17 Posted February 21, 2014 They were only marked with these numbersC21033B and L24005EN no STIC or ram Strange - STIC should be marked AY-3-8600 (and usually has STIC printed on it). RAM should have RA-3-9600 on it. Do they even have the GI logo?

+intvsteve #19 Posted February 21, 2014 You'll need to have them stand up on their legs to to see the part numbers printed on the other side to properly ID them. I suppose it's possible that's worn off though...
HunterZero #20 Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) They look like package manufacturing numbers... The part information might be under the heatsink. They're both the same 40 pin packages. So unless you can remember which one was pulled from which socket, or try reinstalling them and powering on the board...
