INTV III

I just bought a INTV III on EBAY and it has controllers of a Intellivision 1 . I am assuming this is a after market addition . I do have a extra set of controllers for a INTV III . I wonder if I should switch them out.

The controllers are pretty easy to swap of you take the console apart. If you have the matching controllers and they work, you might as well. It would probably increase the value of the console a little bit.

The Intellivision 3 is one of the rarest of the standard consoles and best left as it is.

I've observed quite a bit of variety in the controllers attached to the INTV System III and the Super Pro System. Honestly, it may have always been that way -- kind of impossible to tell by now. The thing that changed the most on them from what I've seen is the keypad. Tough to tell from your photo if the plastic is actually a different shade, though. If it is, they may well be transplants. One thing I do NOT remember seeing was differences in the color of the actual controller housing from the main unit's own color.

Since the controllers were a common failure item, it makes sense that someone swapped them... I doubt one would have shipped from the factory that way with mismatched plastics. But one wonders why they didn't just swap the controller guts?

 

I like the Intv III controllers with the black keypad. I'd swap them out.

I'd swap them out too since you already have the controllers. Love the look of the INTV3 although I don't yet own one. Someone has one up on Ebay right now with mismatched controllers-

thought about bidding on it since I need some of the games but I don't think I can handle that INTV 1 controller stuck on there.

Looks like that console got a lot of use. Wow, what a battle-scarred beast!

My Intellivision III (3?) is battle worn unit I got on an ebay lot. Spiffed it up, swapped the black crumbling keypad for a intellivision I and kinda looks like the above unit, except the controllers plastic colour matches the main body.

 

My metallic coverings are way worse than the one pictured. But I don't really care, as I want to use it, and not have it to collect.

My Inty System III came in a trade I did several years ago. It was in a small original Inty box, so thought I was trading for a usual brown Intellivision. Didn't realise what I had until I got it home.

Mine is almost mint in it's original box so there are no issues with the controllers.Were they notoriously prone to fail or wear out?
