BladeJunker #1 Posted February 22, 2014 Hello I took apart a couple N64 power supplies to dry them out after a soap rinse got water inside, the problem is I can't get it back together again. Fuses look good btw. I can't extract the guts from the case, I see some nuts but I'm not sure if that is holding it in, hard to get at so a lot of tight fiddle work. All the sources of information mention everything except how the shell comes off, found one guy who cut it open but even he didn't mention this aspect. I'm fed up and considered breaking it just to find what's holding it in. So if anyone has taken one apart before please shed some light on my mystery. BladeJunker #3 Posted February 22, 2014 Got a photo or anything? Yeah sure. Basically I think around the posts is a clearance that I can't get back into as the other half of the shell has a rim around the screw hole which won't go back in again since the component board slid down closing the gap. That's the theory so far, like a 'one-way' assembly process by Nintendo to prevent tampering or something. In most of the photos I've seen everything is apart but they don't say how they did that, its like for them it just came open like a book. I could maybe cut the tabs off but that doesn't solve the problem of maintenance and component replacement where you need the whole board out.
BladeJunker #4 Posted April 30, 2014 Well I'm dumb, made my problem more complicated than it was. All that stuff I thought was just BS as it turns out the power supply shell just changed over the years. I had 2 AC units opened up but there respective lids don't fit with each other. X( Oh well at least I got some photo taking practice.
