Jess Ragan #26 Posted April 25, 2014 DP has trouble finding people to post? I was not aware. Seemed like a healthy enough community, although not really as friendly as this one.
AtariBuff #27 Posted April 25, 2014 Oh well, DP is a whole different story. IMO, it all came down when Joe started his brick & mortar store. Both DP Collector's Guides were canned silently without a word, while we contributors had invested plenty of time in upgrades and new stuff for DP8 though. I just took a look at the Classic Games thread and it is overrun by Sega, Nintendo, NeoGeo. You have to look good, to find something pre-NES. Joe might be a pleasant, nice and dedicated guy and I wish him all the luck of the world with his main revenue stream but he lost many, many solid posters in his forum due to above mentioned circumstances. My 2 cents.
VectorGamer #28 Posted April 28, 2014 DP has trouble finding people to post? I was not aware. Seemed like a healthy enough community, although not really as friendly as this one. I only read the classic gaming forum on DP and I can tell you posts are way down on that site compared to 5 years ago. Posts are way down on ClassicArcadeGaming.com as well. 50TBRD #29 Posted April 30, 2014 I registered but I doubt you'll see much of me. There are a lot more active forums that cover the exact same things. Layout is similar to most other forums but I will say that your sub-forums or topics are a little overlapping. News and New Releases. GCE and Homebrew or Homebrew and anything retro because really anything new going on for a retro console is going to homebrew. There's Miscellaneous and General Board. And is Sony anything really considered retro gaming and not more like modern gaming? However, I agree with other posters in this thread. Does the world really need another Retro/gaming forum? There's Atari forums, Vectrex forums, classic gaming forums, Sony forums, Commodore 64 forums, Nintendo forums, Sega forums, etc. I think if you love games so much you should do something with it though. Something that has a need. I know you love the Vectrex and one thing that no one has been able to do is keep up with all the homebrew activity in the Vectrex commmunity. Maybe a blog with videos or pictures. Two things no one on any forum has really talked about is that Der Luchs has Freigeist listed on his site with a screenshot and Binarystar has Hex coupled with Reactor on his site. Zap! #30 Posted May 1, 2014 If only I could get some of my 3,574 "Likers" from my Facebook Classic Gaming Facebook Page to post on Zap! Classic Video Game Forums I'd be one happy guy.

0078265317 #32 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) This is true. Good luck with your forums because there are those that have been established for years like Digital Press and ClassicArcadeGaming.com that are having problems getting people to post. I just shut my forums down last month because I had over 200 members that weren't posting. I wasn't going to fork out the dough in web hosting costs for an inactive forum site. I understand Proboards are free and you won't have the issue of hosting costs, but why would I post at your site when there's a large community at AtariAge where my posts have a good shot at getting replies? I know the feeling. Been trying to get people to post for years on activeboards.org and others I started in the past. No luck except for for all kinds of spam and junk. Very few real posters. I had to shutdown finally. Still own it but nothing on it. Just blank. Forums are not easy. Edited May 1, 2014 by 0078265317
Zap! #33 Posted May 1, 2014 I posted there a bit recently. Hey I will link it in my group again right now....... Thank you very much! I really appreciate it. I've been pushing Zap! hard the past month, even printing business cards, but getting more posters is no easy task.
