gambler172
Hi Karri it would be a pleasure to test for you
+karri
Thanks! I will deliver two binaries. One is the real one that has a hidden disarm sequence and the locations are hidden. In the other one you can see all locations at start and the disarm sequence is fixed. (This makes testing faster). I still lack coding of granades and healing by Penny & co. That takes about 30 mins after work today. All sound effects are still missing as well as lots of planned graphic effects. Currently all locations are in the casino. This is actually my fault that the game development has slowed down as I went out dancing with my wife on Monday instead of coding There was an absolutely lovely tune at the dances: "Sugar" by Annie Sellick. It works well with close Balboa style dancing. http://myfreemp3.eu/music/Annie+Sellick I love it! So it was worth the delay of "Shaken, not stirred" -- Karri Edited March 11, 2014 by karri
+karri
Thanks to LX.NET for good feedback. 2nd version just sent to LX.NET and gambler172. Tomorrow is the last testing day. I try to fix the final graphics after work today. Tomorrow will be sounds. Friday is only for debugging if there are any bugs. Usually not
+Gemintronic
Welp. Four hours of coding got me a dungeon with staircases down. Each floor is 256x256 screens big. It's a start.. but half the time is already gone
+karri
You also started two days later than me... Plus I had a week for planning before starting to code. Usually most of the time goes into puting the ideas together. I just hope I don't add some hard-to-detect side-effects that cannot be debugged in time. So far everything runs in one segment. Today I have to split it up to make the graphics fit in. And tomorrow is the last chance to learn to use Sage's chipper. Or then it will be a silent-movie game. Then I need to make it black-and-white also .
108 Stars
theloon, I love it how you drew the ASCII symbols for your game, true roguelike style. And that on a system that doesn't have them by default.^^
+karri
Ladies and gentlemen It gives us great pleasure to present a new rogue-like game for our beloved Atari Lynx. Shaken, not stirred The mission, should you choose to accept it, is to preserve World peace by disarming a ticking bomb. Unfortunately the location of the bomb as well as the instructions of how to disarm it is not known. The bad guys are not too happy about your interaction with their plans. The gals on the other hand may, or may not help you. The controls are simple. You use only the joypad and two fire buttons throughout the game. countdown Keep track of where you have been health BioScan is a new invention by K. Careful - don't break it. Find the bomb and disarm it. You got about 10 minutes. Dismissed Build up your strength by single targets before going in for larger mobs. PS. If you find some serious bugs please email me. I still have almost a day before the deadline. shaken.zip

+Gemintronic
Does the 7DRL stop at midnight tonight or at the end of Sunday?
+karri
I believe it is end of Sunday. But the time zone is not defined.

+karri
Hi Sampo, It has been a while. The credits go much to Sage. But I am currently coding a lot of "meat" around "Shaken, not stirred". The game has a lot of potential that was ruined because of lack of gameplay. The game has many areas: - balance up your experience by starting with small mobs - you have single target dmg, aoe dmg and healing - there is a mission - find Penny, 4 girls and a bomb - intelligence: make a note of the hints from the girls and use the data to disarm the bomb I am trying to create a modern "intro" to it. Then add two tutorial missions with explanations. And then unveal the plot. This time I end for a 512k cart so there will be lots of effects and sounds. The non-functioning search phase be replaced with a car drive. It is not relevant for the game how you find the girls. I need to experiment a little in basic "how to keep the fun and tension" and try to get rid of "frustration and I don't get it". This 7DRL game is a great sandbox for me. The total gameplay stays at 10 minutes. Now it is just to make these minutes enjoyable. Edited March 23, 2015 by karri
Turbo Laser Lynx
Yeah, too long really. I've been up to my neck in all kinds of projects, but I've been keeping an eye on the Lynx forums all these years to see what's going on (I've just been terribly irregular at posting). It's really great that the Lynx scene is still so alive and that you're working on this game (and all the other lynx projects you're involved in). I've many times been thinking of having a look at your pong with segments and I've been reading LX.net's tutorials but it all seems very technical trying to figure out the memory addresses etc. I can create games on more modern platforms in high level programming but a lot of the Lynx programming stuff unfortunately flies over my head. Btw. I wonder what the best way to go is when creating lynx music these days? I really used to like your abc music, a lot! I still have one of the earlier versions that seemed to be working best, I remember when you added ability to loop the song automatically, what a joy that was Edited March 23, 2015 by Turbo Laser Lynx
+karri
Sages chipper is included in cc65. There is a learning curve in how to compose music using chipper. The nice thing is that chipper runs in Windows so you can create your masterpiece without having to mess with the Lynx or emulators. A good tutorial would be needed here. Turbo Laser Lynx
Thanks Karri! I'm playing around with chipper now and it seems there could be a lot of potential using it.
Wookie
I still want to do this. My HLAKit compiler is still a pile of sh*t and I'm busy with other things but some day, I'm going to do the 7DRL challenge on the Lynx.
