ElysianShadowsFan #1 Posted March 17, 2014 AboutHello everyone, I am here to share with you a project I've been following for some time. It is Elysian Shadows, a JRPG in the style of classics such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest with some interesting new twists to keep it fresh. It started off in development as a Dreamcast only title, but has branched out to other platforms. The Dreamcast version will have unique features that other platforms will not, such as games with the VMU among others. A kickstarter will be started this summer to help finish the development of this game.ScreenshotsOne of the first towns in the game, Loren.A test of the new advanced lighting system.A work in progress dungeon map and tileset.A powerful custom made toolkit to match a powerful engine. Will be made available for modding and creating your own games using LibGyro, the backbone of Elysian Shadows.Follow!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/elysianshadowsYoutube: http://www.youtube.com/user/GyroVorbisWebsite: http://elysianshadows.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/elysian_shadowsThank you for your time and support! +Gemintronic #2 Posted March 17, 2014 Wasn't the PSP a target at one point in time?
ElysianShadowsFan #3 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) The PSP version is still in the works. Actually, it was moved to Vita. Edited March 17, 2014 by ElysianShadowsFan
robotwo #4 Posted March 18, 2014 I'm glad to see that they're back in business, they sure were quiet for quite some time. Followed this since the first "Adventures in game development" video and really liked watching their progress. Hope that this turns out a success in the end (or otherwise a great experience for them).
+Gemintronic #5 Posted March 18, 2014 Thank you for your time and support! We hope that you will follow the project So, are we dealing with an ElysianShadows Fan or Developer?
Falco Girgis #6 Posted March 18, 2014 Heya everyone. I am the engine developer for the Elysian Shadows project. This thread was posted by a fan of ours who is helping to promote the project before our Kickstarter campaign this summer. Thanks for taking the time to check us out. I can answer any of your questions. Oh and... obligatory fresh ESDev screenshot.
+Gemintronic #7 Posted March 18, 2014 Just wanted to say I greatly enjoyed the YouTube videos over the years. Thanks for sharing the trials and tribulations. Tools change. Members change. Many things happen when making a game. I understand wanting to switch up to the Vita. As a single data point I have to say I've still got an original PSP in my pocket filled with homebrew. I'd buy the Dreamcast version but probably play the PSP port more Keep it up, guys!
Falco Girgis #8 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Thanks, man. I really appreciate it. Believe it or not, you're one of the few people to ask about the PSP build... It "disappeared" from our platform list awhile ago, and not too many people noticed after we added iOS and Droid. But honestly, I have written every piece of our engine to be completely platform-independent, with our platform-abstraction library, libGyro. The guy who did the initial iOS port never even saw the engine itself, yet he managed to "port" ES over just by implementing my API. The only limit for how many and which platforms we can support is how much money we can raise from our Kickstarter. Troy_Whelan #10 Posted March 19, 2014 I would definitely purchase a version for DreamCast and a version for PSP if that was also available. Please post once the kickstarted campaign starts as I am sure many here will be interested. Troy

+Gemintronic #14 Posted April 16, 2014 I wont touch facebook with a ten foot pole. I'll just put my input here: Since packaging up the engine and editing tools is already a plan I think specifically making a Dreamcast RPG making devkit would be a fantastic kickstarter incentive. There are some people who only focus on classic systems. Lurking just under the radar are those "RPG makers" that get super excited about creating RPG content but cannot "code" traditionally - even if they can use the internal scripting language of an RPG toolkit.
Troy_Whelan #15 Posted April 17, 2014 I would be interested in a Dreamcast "Game Maker" if it gets started.
