About

Hello everyone, I am here to share with you a project I've been following for some time. It is Elysian Shadows, a JRPG in the style of classics such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest with some interesting new twists to keep it fresh. It started off in development as a Dreamcast only title, but has branched out to other platforms. The Dreamcast version will have unique features that other platforms will not, such as games with the VMU among others. A kickstarter will be started this summer to help finish the development of this game.

I'm glad to see that they're back in business, they sure were quiet for quite some time.

Followed this since the first "Adventures in game development" video and really liked watching their progress.

Hope that this turns out a success in the end (or otherwise a great experience for them).

Heya everyone. I am the engine developer for the Elysian Shadows project.

This thread was posted by a fan of ours who is helping to promote the project before our Kickstarter campaign this summer.

Thanks for taking the time to check us out. I can answer any of your questions.

Oh and... obligatory fresh ESDev screenshot.

Just wanted to say I greatly enjoyed the YouTube videos over the years. Thanks for sharing the trials and tribulations. Tools change. Members change. Many things happen when making a game.

I understand wanting to switch up to the Vita. As a single data point I have to say I've still got an original PSP in my pocket filled with homebrew. I'd buy the Dreamcast version but probably play the PSP port more :)

Keep it up, guys!

Thanks, man. I really appreciate it.

Believe it or not, you're one of the few people to ask about the PSP build... It "disappeared" from our platform list awhile ago, and not too many people noticed after we added iOS and Droid.

But honestly, I have written every piece of our engine to be completely platform-independent, with our platform-abstraction library, libGyro. The guy who did the initial iOS port never even saw the engine itself, yet he managed to "port" ES over just by implementing my API.

The only limit for how many and which platforms we can support is how much money we can raise from our Kickstarter.

I wont touch facebook with a ten foot pole. I'll just put my input here:

Since packaging up the engine and editing tools is already a plan I think specifically making a Dreamcast RPG making devkit would be a fantastic kickstarter incentive. There are some people who only focus on classic systems. Lurking just under the radar are those "RPG makers" that get super excited about creating RPG content but cannot "code" traditionally - even if they can use the internal scripting language of an RPG toolkit.
