S1500 #1 Posted March 18, 2014 I have never seen these before. Kinda neat. Also, I seem to own over $450 in CV hardware.
+boxpressed #2 Posted March 18, 2014 They are modded with third-party add-ons from back in the day.
S1500 #3 Posted March 18, 2014 Were these glue-on or something?
+boxpressed #4 Posted March 18, 2014 Were these glue-on or something? I should have posted a pic of the back too.
Manoau2002 #5 Posted March 18, 2014 Do they work well. I have a pair of yurkie's ball knob joysticks but these might be good as backups if they work ok.
NIAD #6 Posted March 18, 2014 They work pretty good and are stable since they are fastened down with a screw. Basically, anything that offers an extended shaft or increases the height of the original Coleco Hand Controller mushroom knob (such as Yurkie's Ball-Knob mod) makes using these controllers tremendously better... especially for diagonals. While I use Yurkie's modded controllers religiously, the very best modded Hand Controller was done by DoubleDown for his DK/DKJR and PM/Ms. PM creations as they offer extended shafts as well as oversized ball-knobs... I just don't want to use them too much because they are super rare collectibles. BTW, if you get Yurkie's modded controllers, don't forget to have the cords straightened.
NIAD #7 Posted March 18, 2014 Geez, just noticed the price tag of $149.99!!!! I would say that it's about $100 overpriced especially since you can get a Yurkie modded system for about $25-$100 more depending on all the mods you want included.
Bill Loguidice #8 Posted March 19, 2014 While I use Yurkie's modded controllers religiously, the very best modded Hand Controller was done by DoubleDown for his DK/DKJR and PM/Ms. I agree with this. Even though they're "collectible," I use the Pac-Man/Ms.Pac-Man controllers all the time when I use my ColecoVision or Adam. Yurkie's are pretty good, but not as good as those. Even though the PM/MS cost a fortune, I'll just use them under the assumption/hope that they're not going to break on me. I'll also be curious how AtGames' ColecoVision controllers are for the ColecoVision Flashback. Even though they're modeled after the originals, they might be able to make some much needed adjustments to the play/stiffness where they'll also be good alternatives. Will you be able to use them on a real Colecovision are will they be wired in or use something other then a d9 plug ? Do you know a list of games that will be on the Colecovision flashback? Bill Loguidice #10 Posted March 19, 2014 Will you be able to use them on a real Colecovision are will they be wired in or use something other then a d9 plug ? Do you know a list of games that will be on the Colecovision flashback? You should be able to use them on a real ColecoVision, yes (I'll test that first thing when I get them). They have the standard Atari-style 9-pin connectors. The list is not quite finalized yet, but outside of the Activision titles and Nintendo stuff that can't be licensed for obvious reasons, there's a good representation of the ColecoVision's library on there. There likely won't be many, if any, homebrews on there because of a reluctance of certain publishers to participate (they don't want the exposure). The cool thing is that these will obviously be able to use the same overlays, and there's a plan now to include overlays in the box, including for games that never had them before. Fingers crossed that makes it into the final product. I think that would be a tremendous (collectible) value add to go along with the new controllers, even if someone in our community wasn't interested in the box itself with the built-in games.
Manoau2002 #11 Posted March 19, 2014 Sounds like it will be awesome. I already own a good chunk of the Colecovision games. (plus a multicart and two systems and an adam) But I can see myself buying a couple of these to have a system at my parents place/camper and for the new controllers if nothing else. It would also look good on my shelf with the other gaming stuff.
