The Official NEO-GEO Thread!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Darksoft's video #2 of his cart is now up and available to view.

Anthony..

It still seems odd... they have been talking about this forever but nothing has ever came out of it. I think lots of this hype are just empty promises.

Its close to 4:00AM EST for me Matty. I'm usually a night owl. I feel like Dracula at times. When the Sun comes up, that's when I go to bed. :lolblue:

Anthony..

That explains why you post at night and not in the day.

Neil from 8BitPlus absolutely amazing guy, Ive been looking for a good 12 months to find someone to MOD my CDZ with a Universe BIOs chip and finally got it done!

As I said he'll do commission work if he isn't booked up, defiantly worth checking him out! On the site he's MODing and fixing assorts, NOMAD LCDs, Commodore Amigas, loadsa gadgets and gizmos! And the price can't be sniffed at!

Top geeza and trust, he not his onions which this tak!

So so SO chuffed!

I would watch the F3 Taito thread which is similar to the Neo Cart, if you have a intrest in Pre ordering Darksoft Neo Geo Cart

http://www.arcade-projects.com/forums/index.php?board/32-f3-multigame-cart/

Believe they are currently having launch issues, which isn't that uncommon with technology like this; Lets hope they can resolve them in a timely matter.

--------------------------------------

All the Metal Slug games seem Great outside Metal Slug 2 which has some insane slowdown, which was somewhat patched in Metal Slug X

Is this an AES project or just MVS? And Ive just bought a NeoSD, is this what it is a Neo flash cart to rival the NeoSD?

Might seem a dumb question but Ive been away from the scene for over four years!

Believe both MVS and AES

So its a retail flash cart as in the NeoSD? If so why is it better than the NeoSD?

Hi, Harold back again! After asking on this forum which is the best KOF game on the Neo-Geo I was informed that Kof '98 is the one to go for. So after playing for a week here is my little gameplay & review so the game. Hope you enjoy!

Hey Harold,

Glad that King of Fighters '98 is to your liking. Its really up there as the best title for the Neo-Geo, and for the series in general. Thank you for stopping by and sharing this excelling video with us.

Hey friends, which do you consider the best 'Metal Slug' game on the Neo-Geo?

Thanks in advance,

Harold.

Metal Slug 3 is considered the best for the Neo-Geo as well. Personally, I like 5 the most, others will say the first Metal Slug. But MS3 is the one with the higher ranking Harold.

Glad you stopped by bro. :)

Most people think 3 is the best.

Agreed Evan. That one always gets ranked as the best! :)

Neil from 8bitplus.com does commission work for people, installs MODs, chips and switches to make mongrel powered super consoles...

Neil and Frazer cover any and all fields for Neo Geo modification.

Neil was a good find Ant!

This is the super tricky (apparently) BIOs add for a CDZ when the chip is bigger than the slot so you have to solder 40 wires to the chip, one to each leg to hole. if that make sense?

Makes me sweat just looking at it!

Amazing to see this Matty.

Nice that Neil is helping you. I just happen to find him off Google and it was a longshot to see if he would get back to you. Glad that he did and helping you mod your CDZ. Nice pics and glad things are working out.

Well, in my opinion, its not even close to launch ready yet with Darksoft's cart.

Watching the video, I notice that they don't even show the prototype cart. and only focused on the television. The game is full of glitches mostly sound glitches that is noticeable when you switchgames and boot up. Then you have the KOF '2003 that they just skipped the intro without showing it. Why's that? I thought it was suppose to be a comparison video to compete with the NeoSD to show why its a better product. :?:

Personally, I think that the designer didn't acknowledge how to make this correctly. Its just full of issues that NeoSD was able to do it 100%. If they plan to release this in the Fall season. They are not even close to have a perfectly working prototype to convince as why we should spent good money on this item.

Statement was on the F3 Taito muticart that was just released by Darksoft

F3 Taito is similar to the Neo Geo Hardware so it is very important to read up on this launch

Apparently they are suffering some serious issues atm

Ah, gotcha enoofu my error. But as for Darksoft's multicart for the Neo-Geo. Those are my concerns with his product as of now. Just not really convinced on why i should spend good money on this yet, while NeoSD is with me.

Hahaha. Yep, most of the times Evan. Plus I like the nightime more. Especially the early AM hours.

Less crowds in the streets

No traffic (most of the time) on highways

Don't have to deal with the hectic rush hours

Stores are re-stocked with all the merchandise I need

I use to take my telescope and go out from 11AM-3AM to do my amateur Astronomy to see the stars and what our universe has to offer. Very relaxing and fun to do. :)

So Normally Im fanatically filming and posting my new sneakers for the world to see but recently Ive been expanding my Neo Geo Cart, CD and Pocket collection and Ive been so chuffed with the small "bits and pieces" Ive got Ive had to share it the world! And thanks to Mr Durso my once lonely and unplayed NGPC collection has been given a new lease of live thanks to the spankingly mint NGPC he sent me! For no reason but to be kind! Mate much love and respect, absolutely love it, totally forgot how good it really is!

Thank you!

MJ

Say Matty, did you also have the NGPC link cable to play on the Sega Dreamcast or any of the promotional products for the unit?

Believe they stated a few weeks ago the reason they were delayed was because of sound compatibility issues. Darksoft stated the carts could boot past the Boot Screen and stuff.

Do agree their footage isn't exactly great or presented well under professional standards and that it way to early to compare NeoSD to Darksoft Neo Geo without a Darksoft production Multi cart unit;

Personally I got bored after a few minutes of watching their video and did a couple of major skips and was still not interested in this product at this moment and rather be unbiased at this time.

That's true. Hopefully the 3rd video will show vast improvements and get more of a positive response from gamers. But right now, I'm not really impressed with their latest works. :(

Anyway, I PM'ed you enoofu. Hope you'll be interested in it. :)

Hi guys,

Back with Atariage member RetroGamingBlog (Ash) doing a fun review of Blazing Star on the Nintendo Switch. Let's listen to what he has to say shall we? :)

From the description,

"Hi! My name is Ash, but people in these parts call me Retro. It’s a nickname acquired through gaming online, the RGB blog and Twitch stream.

If you like what I do and want to support me, you can recommend my Blog to a friend, share a video I’ve created or donate below, but most importantly enjoy your time whilst looking around.

---

4 sentient biological weapons spawned from a conflict between two planets is the catalyst that propels you into the world of Blazing Star.

Originally released by SNK in 1998 and developed by Yumekobo the game continues to be released across multiple formats as part of the ACA NEOGEO series. We've played Blazing Star across all formats including the Arcade, Steam and the Nintendo Switch. These iterations from the original MVS version hold up very well and providing you find the right control method for you, there's not a lot to begrudge.

Blazing Star review by Ash @RGB_RetroBlog"
