So High Score Saves got the cart I returned, opened it, and told me that the thing that was loose inside was a piece of plastic.

 

I'm not sure if that could have caused the issues that I was having, but we'll see. They shipped out the replacement cart extremely quickly, and although it was supposed to be delivered on the 7th, UPS seems to be having some delay or something, so it might get here a little later than that.

 

Not long after I shipped it, I thought that maybe it could have been a problem with the PSU, but I'm not sure. I'm using the stock SNK PSU that came with my Neo Geo, and I'm assuming that those PSUs should still be good. As you probably remember, I did the easy RGB fix on it, but other than that, it's still in its stock configuration, so I still think that it's likely that I had a bad cart. If I have problems with my next cart, I think then it would be okay to say that there may be a problem with my Neo Geo.

Yeah, I'll see about maybe trying a new PSU if the new cart still doesn't work properly. Not sure what else it could be since normal carts work just fine. I'm guessing that the Darksoft cart probably requires more power than normal carts, just like something like the MegaSD does, even though that still requires less power than a Virtua Racing SVP cart. Other than that, I have no idea. Still have to wait for it to get here anyway, so for now there is not much I can do.

 

It's been a while since I opened my Neo Geo, but I do have to actually clean the motherboard to get rid of any of the corrosion that you warned me about. It looked perfectly clean to me, but maybe there could be some under one of the chips or that I just didn't notice.

Welp, at least the good news is that they mailed you another cart. So that is a relief. Can't wait to know the end result on it from you bro.

 

Also GadgetUK is a swell guy, he comes by to post and offers great content. I recently purchased a custom Neo-Geo Mini controller for him to have a few months ago.

Yeah, the replacement cart should be here soon, I hope. I should have tested the 3 games that I own real copies of on the Darksoft cart, but I forgot.

 

Anyway, CastleMania is hinting at the HD Retrovision Neo Geo adaptor again, so if anyone wants this for their AES or Neo Geo CD variant of choice, definitely don't miss it.
