This looks and sounds really cool.  

 

 

 

I'm not an artist at SNK, never was. I'm just a fan copying what I like. Hence the title.

 

Everything in this film was drawn from scratch between the competition's announcement on July 25th and the deadline of August 30th. The only exception being the NEO-GEO logo.

Gamers of the mid-90's grew older, and many of them grew up. The power put into enjoying SNK games waned, not helped by the company's own bankruptcy. With a financial resurgence and a new generation of people invested in games, the SNK brand managed a second wind and the NeoGeo saw new light - be it through new manufactured hardware, the rerelease of classic titles on modern consoles and computers, or the discovery of old cabinets and systems and ROMs.

 

Newgrounds was one of the original homes of edgy Flash movies and edgy spriteart parodies, and this very scattershot little film pays homage both to SNK and to this website's own roots. If you enjoyed SNK back in the day or have discovered it recently, I hope you find some value here. And if you feel disillusioned with the modern era of gaming or feel burnt out on gaming as a whole, please keep the new generation of young gamers in mind as they grow up forming their own tastes and memories. "The Future Is Now" has another meaning to some of us.

 

I didn't manage to get quite everything I wanted into the film, so I'll take another week or fortnight to put it all together, edit some graphics to look nicer, etc. If you have suggestions or questions, characters you were surprised didn't get in or glad they were, etc, feel free to leave them here.

Those were both great to watch (I wish Neo Geo Land was still around! I'd go if it was!), and they reminded me of something that I experienced in April when I bought my Neo Geo. I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I will now.

 

Some time in the past few years or so I'd gotten frustrated with new games being just not appealing or feeling empty and soulless or just badly designed (that's you, Battlefield V!), so for about 2 years now I've been focusing on older games, particularly 4th gen. For basically all of 2019 (and most of this year, as well) I was almost exclusively playing Genesis/Mega Drive and PC Engine, with a small amount of SFC/SNES in there sometimes (yes, I know, everyone knows I love Sega way more than I should, but I do play Nintendo games sometimes!). Then I got the Neo Geo in April, and having played basically nothing but its contemporary systems for the past year or so, it was basically like experiencing the Neo Geo almost in the same way it would have been seen when it launched. I knew it was powerful, but going from the SuperGrafx that I'd bought only a few weeks earlier to the Neo Geo was crazy! Yeah, that's comparing a more powerful version of a $250 home console from 1987 to a $600 arcade machine from 1990, but it was still great!

 

I have actually been thinking about watching the Fatal Fury anime for a while. I need to buy Star Trek, so I was thinking about getting Fatal Fury as well next time I buy stuff from the USA. My Japanese proficiency isn't THAT high, so subtitles are still beneficial to me on occasion, so I'd prefer the US version just for the subs. Anyway, if they are actually going to make a new Fatal Fury anime, they have my attention, as that's something that I'd be interested in watching. I hope they do it well, as I think Terry's story could be told well if they do it right.

Also speaking of Terry, I have a very strong desire to go buy some Neo Geo games on Sunday, and it might be Real Bout. Not sure yet, as I need to check prices first.

Same here Steve. I wish Neo Geo Land was still around. I would never leave the place and would have fun playing all the games and just have fun all day long. I'm glad both of the videos were to you r liking. 

 

The Fatal Fury movies are really good. i remember seeing them at first on Saturday Anime on the Sci-Fi Channel back in the 1990's. I liked them so much, thjat I have the VHS box set of them when I use to go to Tower Records, I miss those times growing up.

 

Interested on buying some Neo-Geo games bro? Awesome! A superb choice and I hope it will be Real Bout or Fatal Fury 3. I like those games and start to collect them first out of the series.
