Gray
Cool! I don't have access to the Space Rocks, but I've been meaning to learn how to play Dig Dug for about 5 years Should be a fun week!
+SpiceWare
The ROM for Space Rocks is freely available for use in Stella or on a real Atari via a Harmony Cartridge. The one to use is found in reply 322 of the Space Rocks homebrew topic. If you are in PAL land the PAL ROM is PAL60 so it plays exactly the same as the NTSC build. The only difference is the reduced color palette due to hardware differences. Edited March 29, 2014 by SpiceWare

StanJr
so help out a very puzzled old man. Are we penalized for not playing both games? I'm not sure I have time to play Dig Dug this week as the game can run into the hours to play, but I don't want to lose points. I'd rather just play Space Rocks... Your Highest finish on EITHER game counts. You gain bonus points by playing both. You gain the majority of your points by playing well on ONE game. You score extra bonus points by playing well on BOTH games. Hope that clears it all up

Scrabbler15
Space Rocks - 9660 I really like this game. I'm no good at it. But I like it. Dig Dug - 107,500 My wife and I were at an arcade about three decades ago. We were just walking around when she said, "How about that one?" She just liked the name. And so began my long history of playing Dig Dug. .

S.BAZ
good solution Vocelli that's a good idea! i actually found the rom pretty easily with a google search but I can see with just looking at what is available in the rarity guide, it appears unavailable. maybe it should be in the Rarity Guide database? Space Rocks is more fun to play than asteroids or Asteroids Deluxe (7800). for me. I'm not sure, but I feel like the control is better, like I can dodge around a bit better. that's what I don't like about Asteroids games, I want to stay put & just aim & fire but you actually have to move around sometimes & dont like the controlability. (to be fair, I haven't played the 7800 Asteroids Deluxe very much.) I gotta say too, killer job on the title screen that title lookes GREAT for 2600! actually everything looks really good in this game. first entry for Space Rocks 15500

Gray
Dig Dug - 12,990 (I will improve this before the end of the week!) Space Rocks - 27,220 Space Rocks is fantastic! So much fun. I've always enjoyed asteroids on the 2600 and this is a much better version.

DT Kofoed
First stabs: Dig Dug: 36.440 -this one should go up with practice. Never been a huge fan of this iteration, though it is pretty respectable. I don't know why, the the rock/squares bother me more than they should, especially considering the other arcade adaptions/bastardizations I don't blink an eye at. Space Rocks: 17,110 -also should go up with practice. Atari's version was always flawed, and rollable by anyone with the patience. I've admired Spiceware's work in the past, but this is visually and mechanically gorgeous [still waiting to see the final version of Frantic, and now Draconian, though!]. I foresee that the rest of you will rock my space on this one...

Scrabbler15
Dig Dug - 149,130 Played this version for recreation a few times, but never really focused on it before. It always matters more to me when someone is keeping score. Every new high for this is now a personal best. .
