godzillajoe #4 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Monaco GP could probably be done. Activision's Grand Prix is sort of a sideways version. But missing a few elements such as the cars don't zig zag, the ice, tunnels, police cars, fire trucks and ambulances. R.O.T.S #5 Posted May 3, 2014 Lunar lander in some form or other ,I now the question of LL on Atari 2600 has been asked before ( http://atariage.com/forums/topic/161502-is-there-lunar-lander-and-pool-for-2600/ ) but I just think the thrust sound and collision explosion would be easily covered and after all Asteroids was vector and the 2600 version of that was very good. atarilovesyou #6 Posted May 3, 2014 Maybe too much going on here but another obscure Nintendo game, Sheriff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUPaB0zizoI Played this on Warioware, it's a pretty hilarious little game!...I didn't find it held me for long, but it was fun while it lasted! maiki #7 Posted May 3, 2014 Monaco GP for sure... it could be probably done because the scrolling is vertical... shame Sega did not stick to the concept and changed to 3D in later versions...
Gredler #8 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) What about a beat-em-up demake? Would take a lot of creativity, but would be funny and fun. Gameplay like Activision Boxing, except instead of pinned into a ring, you scroll to the right. difficulty levels would give you various starting health points. as you move to the right enemies would appear and you would need to beat them before "go -->" appears at the bottom. occasionally a trashcan can appear to give health back if you hit it and eat the delicious food it drops . I think it could be really fun, free game idea! Edited May 9, 2014 by Gredler
Gabriel #9 Posted May 9, 2014 It isn't from 1979, but what about Space Encounters? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSgMhbJsB4w

I was helping Der Luchs with a Monaco GP-like racing game before he switched over to the Vectrex. This game is RIPE for conversion.

Gredler #13 Posted May 9, 2014 Soooo....... what arcade game from 1979 is this again? Oh man, tons. sorry, didn't see the 1979 quantifier. would still be a fun arcade to 2600 port never the less, free game idea revoked!
ComputerSpaceFan #14 Posted May 9, 2014 If sticking strictly to 1979 I'd like to see: a closer port of Galaxian Tail Gunner (although Fury Unlimited is working on a proper Vectrex version) and of course Speed Freak but if the 2600 could run that, I'd much prefer a port of Night Driver

Cynicaster #17 Posted May 9, 2014 Maybe too much going on here but another obscure Nintendo game, Sheriff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUPaB0zizoI Is the same game as Bandito (I think it's called)? I think that game takes credit for the first arcade implementation of the Robotron-esque dual-stick control mechanism. Although, if I recall, the "shoot" control on this game wasn't a second joystick but a dial that could be rotated into discrete positions to aim. Still, very innovative.
maiki #18 Posted May 9, 2014 I don't know why but I just don't like This Planet Sucks. The gameplay is too difficult and the colours are sort of diving into all those shades.
BrianC #19 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) a closer port of Galaxian What about the latest Galaxian Arcade hack? It brings the graphics closer to the arcade, while the gameplay was already closer than a lot of the other ports. Edited May 9, 2014 by BrianC
davyK #20 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) I played that Sheriff/Bandido game in the arcade and it was very addictive back then. Yeah you aimed using a dial that clicked into set positions (probably 8?). I remember thinking how your character looked when shooting up was great. Edited May 10, 2014 by davyK
Trinity #21 Posted May 10, 2014 If someone here made a good home-brew of Tail-Gunner I'd buy it for sure!!! With track-ball support. Or, at least a very quick joystick cursor. Hmm,,,
