Star Trek Pause

Today I sat down to some 5200 Star Trek. I was having an OK game, nothing spectacular. I paused the game to finish preparing some food I had been cooking. On my way back from doing this, but before I got back to the console to unpause the game, the Game Over tune played and Simulation Over appeared on the screen.

 

I guess I never noticed this before because I don't typically leave games on pause for any period of time. But this game has a timeout on its pause feature. How asstastic is that?
