Colecovision 2 Button Games

Recommended Posts

Can some kind person out there provide a list of what games require the use of both fire buttons.

I have a Champ Adapter but I have not yet had a chance to modify it to work with 2 buttons.

One of my favourite joysticks is the Suncom Slik Stik.

Thanks.

Here's the full list of two-button games, which I compiled for my ColecoVision trading card project. I examined the manuals and tested every cartridge myself a couple of months ago to make sure I had the correct button usage information for every legacy game. I haven't gotten around to doing this exercise for homebrew games yet, but I'll have to do it eventually. :)

2010 - The Graphic Action Game

Aquattack

B.C.'s Quest for Tires

Beamrider

Blockade Runner

Brain Strainers

Cabbage Patch Kids - Picture Show

Campaign '84

Choplifter!

Cosmic Avenger

Dam Busters

Defender

H.E.R.O.

Illusions

It's Only Rock 'N Roll

James Bond: 007

Looping

Monkey Academy

Motocross Racer

Novablast

Omega Race

One-on-One

Quest for Quintana Roo

Roc 'n Rope

Smurf - Paint 'n' Play Workshop

Space Fury

Space Panic

Spy Hunter

Star Trek - Strategic Operations Simulator

Super Cobra

Tarzan

Threshold

Tournament Tennis

Tutankham

WarGames

War Room

Wing War

WizMath, The Wizard of Id's

And just for bonus, here are the games that do not use either side buttons at all:

Facemaker

Flipper Slipper

Frogger

Frogger II: ThreeeDeep!

Ken Uston Blackjack / Poker

Lady Bug

Mouse Trap

Pepper II

Q*bert

Q*bert's Qubes

Smurf - Rescue In Gargamel's Castle

All the other games not listed in the two lists above are one-button games.

For my own games, Zombie Near uses only one button.

Princess Quest uses two buttons, one for shooting and other for jumping.

Mecha-8 uses two buttons also, one for shooting and the other for special "devastator" power; also is needed to replay same level if Mecha gets destroyed.

I am waiting for a copy of Zombie Near that I bought recently from Collectorvision, I also bought the digital copy of Princess quest. Its a hard game, reminds me of Ghosts N Goblins.

Did the buttons have names?

ie, did Coleco refer to them back in the day as "Button 1" and "Button 2", or left and right, or nothing at all?

Wondering what to label them in an emulator... Or no label at all ;-)

Pretty sure they were referred to as Left and Right

We just did an update today where we are trying them w/o a label. Since they are on-screen, and laid out side by side, then they end up being "left" and "right" by virtue of position. Now deciding if they should be grey or red...
