nostalgia emulator: how to set up a joystick

Is it possible to use a Atari 2600 joystick (via Stelladaptor USB) to play games in Nostalgia emulator?

I seem to to change the button but not the directions

I've never tried that particular combination. Does the Stelladapter expose the Atari joystick as a normal USB HID? If so, I would think Nostalgia would be able to detect that as JOY-<something or other>.

it detects it

but in the settings I cant select the joystick position for the different disc positions
