Wickeycolumbus #26 Posted June 11, 2014 I still have a sour taste in my mouth over them stopping the online function of Mario Kart Wii. I'll still probably end up with a Wii U and MK8 eventually though.
Shannon #27 Posted June 11, 2014 Agreed.. I had alot of fun with Mario Kart Wii... It's a shame they would end support like that. I wonder if it was do to lack of activity.
Atariboy #28 Posted June 11, 2014 It was because of GameSpy closing down. Nintendo should've taken it upon themselves to put up servers for that and whatever else was still popular, but they sadly didn't.
Shannon #29 Posted June 15, 2014 Got to play this a little more today. Seems there is an awful lot of glare and lens flare in this version. At times I have trouble seeing farther ahead. Especially the signs that point at which direction the track is turning.
Atariboy #30 Posted June 15, 2014 Yeah, it's a beautiful game just like Wind Waker HD was, but I think there's something to be said for the style that both Mario Kart Wii and the original Wind Waker went with. Bright colorful graphics without fancy lighting engines that seem a bit overdone.
Shannon #31 Posted June 15, 2014 I will say, though, that I really like the attention to the detail in regards to the animation of the characters. I also like the way the kart tilts to the side when you try to do a power slide.
Shannon #32 Posted June 15, 2014 What's with the crappy battle mode maps... Boy did they get lazy. They have like 6 Mario Karts they could chose battle mode maps from and they choose racing courses? Lazy, lazy, lazy.
Austin #33 Posted June 15, 2014 What's with the crappy battle mode maps... Boy did they get lazy. They have like 6 Mario Karts they could chose battle mode maps from and they choose racing courses? Lazy, lazy, lazy. I'm crossing my fingers they release DLC that fixes this issue. Hopefully, free DLC.
Shannon #34 Posted June 15, 2014 Well hopefully they will do something. With the quality of previous battle modes (and I'm talking Mario Kart DS here) which beats Mario Kart 8 in the battle mode department. I also really liked the shine mode as well. Lots of fun. I can't speak for Mario Kart 7 or for that matter Mario Kart Wii since I have not tried battle mode in those two. However at least Mario Kart Wii had that weekly challenge thing which was pretty cool.. and was get this lazy half arsed effort?
Austin #35 Posted June 15, 2014 ..and was get this lazy half arsed effort? Sounds to me like they are taking cues from the rest of the industry.
cimerians #36 Posted June 18, 2014 Got a question: On the last game, Mario Kart Wii, I remember being protected from team-mates (or your own) shells and bananas...a blue glow would surround the thrown item and it wouldn't hurt you. In this game it seems they did away with that so you can slip on your own banana peels etc. I noticed this is also the case in team matches. Is there a way to turn that off or on? Some friends and family don't like it. I kind of do because I like having the danger of hitting my own team member but it frustrates other people who play with me.
