djdsl #1 Posted March 14, 2003 got this at a tag sale in a 2600 lot back in the fall, thought id share with yall. heres whats written on it: 1.Lift lever on socket up 2 Insert game prom 3 Push lever down to lock 4 Select the correct number 5 Insert Cartridge in Atari there are 4 numbers to select from but the switch is a 6 point selecter. drawing of prom has Pitfall 3 written on it. (pitfall 3?? maybe the number to select?) looks like someone put some love in it. from the looks of it, the condition of tape, glue and paper id say its about 15 years old. I dunno. take a look. davidbrit2 #4 Posted March 14, 2003 That looks like a device that would be used at home by an Atari employee to play bootlegged EPROMs. Hang on to it in case you find a tray of ROM chips. I've seen pictures of them before.
Cassidy Nolen #5 Posted March 14, 2003 I'll bring a bunch of proms to Philly, if you like. I have just a few lying around (read as tons!). Cassidy

ihuntley #7 Posted March 14, 2003 I have a huge set of proms and an adapter similiar to yours. It's stashed at my mom's right now. I had put it on eBay not that long ago, but the reserve wasn't met. I'll check around and see what happened to the pictures I took for the auction. D. Dodge Silver
djdsl #8 Posted March 14, 2003 id like to see your pics if you can. itd be interesting to compare the two and see if they have a similar design. Do you know who made and used the one you have? what was the reserve price you were asking for it?
ihuntley #9 Posted March 15, 2003 Mine was pretty obviously a homebrew device. The proms each had medical tape on the tops with the name of the game written on it. There were so many games that I think somebody had a little game copying business going. I'll check and see if I can find that auction and/or the pics. The reserve was $100, btw. D. djdsl #10 Posted April 11, 2003 Thanks Cassidy for the handful of chips. Unfortuantely, none of them seemed to have worked properly. I got some interesting bars and patterns but no games. So, i cleaned the chip connector points and later opened up the cart to see if there were any loose connections, but it all looks ok. As long as i got it open, thought you guys might like to see the inside of this device. Anyone see anything that looks out of place or have any other suggestions?
