ComputerSpaceFan #1 Posted May 17, 2014 Hey Vectrex Roli! I am loving your channel and your latest video had me chuckling away as always. I am intrigued by the Firefox, never heard of it before. The game looks sweet but I don't understand Level 2. What are the weird red things flying toward your spaceship? Blocks to be avoided? I don't get it. But I'm pretty sure I'm going to look for one of these machines, it looks awesome!
robotwo #2 Posted May 17, 2014 (edited) The thing with these kinds of segmented displays is that they tended to have large well defined images instead of smaller parts/ patterns. So for some games it would require them to re-use the patterns in creative ways. It's obvious that the red patterns are the explosion frames for the ships, but I'm not quite sure either what kind of in-game imagery they're supposed to portray on the second level. I would imagine it's something like a low flying sequence where you're trying to avoid some forms of rock formations. For some reason I always keep comming back to a game that keeps comming back in Ashens' Popstation reviews, which is a fighting game where the frames of animation for the arms and legs are re-used as projectiles. Thanks, well I guess what you mean should be "asteroids" and as robotwo already said they had to re-use what was there. I think it must have been pretty hard to design a multi level game with one single display like that.
