projectmario
I have recently come a cross these games and am new to the atari community in general and was just wondering how I could tell if these are legitimate cartridges. The 2600 cart is Quadrun and the 5200 one is Pole Position. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share with me.

+Allan
Have you tried either one? Allan
projectmario
I tried the Quadrun and it came up fine and worked as far as I could tell though I don't have the retail cartridge to compare it with. And as far as the Pole Position one I don't have a functioning 5200 at this moment.
Tempest
The Quadrun date seems late. I have the final date being 3/18/83 but that doesn't mean that it's not real as I've seen weird 'late' dates on protos before. Pole Position is the final. +Allan
Tempest, What does that other sticker on the Pole Position cart mean? Game Code 15? Allan
projectmario
Tempest, It looks like there was another sticker under the one with the later date, is this common with these loaner carts? And by final does that means it is the same as a retail cartridge?
Shawn
The pic is kinda grainy, does that quadrun label have square corners?
projectmario
It does have square corners. I've been digging around on here and I actually was able to find someone else has a cartridge similar with the same date and everything. And from what I understand from those posts the Quadrun I have I can only assume is a repro.
Tempest
Tempest, What does that other sticker on the Pole Position cart mean? Game Code 15? Allan No clue. Some internal thing I guess. I've never seen that. Tempest, It looks like there was another sticker under the one with the later date, is this common with these loaner carts? And by final does that means it is the same as a retail cartridge? Yes that's quite common. They reused cartridges all the time. Yes by final I mean same as retail
Wickeycolumbus
I'd say Quadrun is fake, you can tell by the font and square corners. Lots of fake loaners of that out there it seems. Pole Position looks real, you can compare them to see the differences between real and fake loaners. Great finds regardless!
CPUWIZ
That Quadrun has a 99% chance of having a real mask ROM inside, I think that date is the one that came from Best a long long time ago. I had one and when I cracked it open, there was a production board Quadrun inside. Here is one of the threads, discussing this... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/113994-possible-two-different-quadrun-cartridges/?p=1378505
