Atari Lynx II has scewed Video and Gameplay

Hi, I bought a Lynx II and it is not really working. It's kinda easier to show than describe, so here's some poorly shot videos.

These seem to be both video and in game bugs and crashes; I am wondering if there is any fix for this. It seems to be an issuse with the system, but I don't know anything for sure.

Seen something similar with a Game Gear. Replaced the capacitors and it was better. So just a guess but the caps in your Lynx are bad.

Huh, bad caps usually have a more complete failure of some aspect, but I'm not a good enough solder-er to replace them either way...

Ya it seems like the caps sorry man it plagued theise handhelds alot of them had faulty capsitors

Caps made around 2000 were especially bad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague

 

But failures are not just to faulty caps but also age.

 

They usually dry out or otherwise wear out. Many of the game consoles that are suffering are often over 25 years old. This would be a decent guide about the caps: http://console5.com/wiki/Identifying_Bad_Capacitors

Here's some pictures of the inside. None of the (visible) caps seem to have burst/corroded.
