vectrexroli #1 Posted June 7, 2014 I found out that there are not many videos out there showing the Vectrex game Tsunami in action. Here I show you that homebrew game and I also show you the "Hydra" spinner controller made by Fury Unlimited for that game: http://youtu.be/S-VA4-0ux00
ComputerSpaceFan #2 Posted June 8, 2014 Awesome vid as always Roli! I have never seen the completed version of Tsunami being played, only the tech demo on various compilation carts. Now that I see what the actual game is like I think I better get myself a 2600 driving controller. Minor question, if I don't have a Hydra and am only using a 2600 driving wheel does Tsunami use more than just one button? Tempest uses two buttons (one for super zapper) does Tsunami also use a second button? You mentioned in the video if you don't own a Hydra, you can use a driving controller with a regular Vectrex controller plugged in to the other joystick port but it's not ideal for button use. Thanks. There are several versions of demos floating around, the one withe the Copyright text at the beginning saying "This is a demo..." seems to be the most complete one. I didn´t play around with the Atari controller as I knew that I will get the Hydra, so I can only guess that you need also a button for fire and the "Super Zap" like on the Hydra controller during gameplay. As far as I know some Tsunami games even came with an Atari controller, but my version didn´t and even I have an Atari 2600, I don´t know own such a driving controler for it. BTW: My Spinnerama cartridge came with some paper Stencil to build some kind of case or yoke to have both controllers together. I guess that could be a neat idea to do. ComputerSpaceFan #4 Posted June 8, 2014 Thanks for the heads up Roli. Then again, I should really have just listened to your advice in your video to pause the high-def video where you clearly show what the buttons do. But then again, that manual is also kinda depressing given my other thread (sad face)
