+RangerG #1 Posted March 16, 2003 I bought an Intellivision II today at the flea market and it had an old catalog in the box with it. I love looking at the old catalogs. This Intellivision catalog was interesting in that the major focus was how the Intellivision games are 1/2 the price of the Nintendo version for the same game. I always thought of the Intellivision as the big rival of the Atari 2600, but not the NES. I checked around and it is the last Intellivision catalog (put out by INTV) for Holiday 1989. Here's a website with it scanned: http://www.gloom.org/~gauze/intvcat/ pretty neat!
badbrad #2 Posted March 16, 2003 The Santa Claus is one of the Blue Sky Rangers.
Big Player #3 Posted March 16, 2003 What sucks is all those games released at the end of the Intellivision's life are rare. I'd really love to have those games in cartridge form. But you can get lucky. I found Spiker--Super Pro Volleyball with instructions for $1 at a flea market.
Tempest #4 Posted March 16, 2003 Yeah they're half the price of the Nintendo version but they look half as good. I love the Intellivision and all, but the Nintendo was the superior machine. I give INTV credit for trying to extend the lifespan of the Intellivision though, they actually did fairly well (amazingly). Tempest
chrisbid #5 Posted March 16, 2003 INTV corp did make a port of Stadium Mud Buggies for the NES (it was to be their only NES game), but ended up renaming it Monster Truck Rally or something lame like that. Its kindof funny to compare the two games
King Atari #6 Posted March 16, 2003 I actually like the newer INTV stuff better than the older carts (with the excpetion of a few games). I always liked comparing them to Atari's later games (Atari always won). I found Slam Dunk Super Pro Basketball, Super Pro Football, and Thin Ice and a thrift shop for $1 each. Slam Dunk is currently the prize of my collection . I was really happy, since I got them to take the price down from $3 each (I didn't have the $9 to spare). Tempest Although. the nice thing about some of the games on the INTV was that they really were ports of the games, unlike, for example, the NES version of Bump 'n Jump.
