SpaceDice2010
Is the proto that was found verified to be the actual game? Lloyd
Rom Hunter
Well, the promo box shows a sorcerer and the game contains spells, so 99% yes.
SpaceDice2010
i wish someone would finish one of these Apollo games. Pompeii looked nice. Too bad homebrewers don't pick up and finish some obscure games.
Rom Hunter
Finally, a closer look at Kyphus: http://www.atarimania.com/2600/boxes/hi_res/kyphus_cart_2.jpg These 'laser shooting clouds' in the artwork must be the cloud in the game. I have no doubts left that the found proto is indeed Kyphus.
Foxsolo2000
But was it actually confirmed to be the actual game or not and who has it now?

+Gemintronic
I think it's within reason to make a Kyphus type game. Probably easier than Treasures of Tarmin. ..although the prototype ROM doesn't give me much clues tp the overall gameplay. It looks like it might have been meant to play like Gates of Dawn? Rom Hunter
Interesting. Where did you find that artwork? It was donated to me by someone who scanned it from a magazine.

Rom Hunter
An Italian magazine of 1983 called "Videogiochi"
+bfstats
That leaves only Squoosh that we need artwork for. Any chance that same magazine would have it? In any case, thanks to all who find these gems and contribute them to the community!

+Psionic
RIP, Pat. Died way too young. Thanks for the info! Yeah, he was killed in an automobile accident near Seattle involving a logging truck. His former wife Dale died of cancer back in 2007. https://www.turrentinejacksonmorrow.com/obituaries/doris-bieschke-43088 His kids are still around. I believe someone was in contact with one of his daughters at one point, but she didn't know much about Apollo.

Are those real? Why would Apollo make cartridge labels for games that hadn't been completed yet? Mockup boxes for advertisements sure, but did they ever show mockup cartridges in any ad or at a show? The seller also had unused labels from other games by various publishers listed for sale, and appears to be someone with no apparent connection to or knowledge of video games who primarily deals in sports cards and other assorted oddities. Such a person is highly unlikely to attempt faking something like this.
