godzillajoe #1 Posted June 13, 2014 OK, so I cheated by using save state in Stella. Man, it is NOT easy. Done it a million times on the Wii, never on the 2600 without cheating.
SoundGammon #2 Posted June 13, 2014 Any special animation or dance by the character for a 300 game? And considering how old this game is and the fact no one has never bowled a 300!
godzillajoe #3 Posted June 13, 2014 Nope, nothing special. Also, some people claimed to have done it when I started a thread about it a long time ago. I like to start way at the bottom, count 3 1/2 of the ball rolling Rrrrr Rrrrr Rrrrrs and then push up. But I guess the built-in randomness defeats that strategy. Trial and error until I got there. I think I got 270+ playing for real though
karokoenig #4 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) And considering how old this game is and the fact no one has never bowled a 300! Many people have bowled 300 in this game. Please excuse me blowing my own trumpet here... I bowled two 300's (2-player game, according to the competition rules) in last season's 2600 High Score Club. Also, the internet is full of videos of 300's. Oh yeah. I should mention that it took me nearly 10 hours of net gameplay to finally achieve the double 300. I don't recommend this to anyone. Godzillajoe mentioned the slight randomness. It takes luck to get this done. Edited June 13, 2014 by karokoenig
Atari_Bill #5 Posted June 13, 2014 Yeah, I'd really think that many people have bowled 300 at some point or another. I'm not one of them. Tried for many hours back in the day but never could quite get there.

Wickeycolumbus #8 Posted June 14, 2014 One of my favorite games on the 2600. Only ever made it to the mid 200s.
+iesposta #9 Posted June 14, 2014 Even with the cheat, congrats! I first thought you meant you got your first 300 in actual bowling. There is an unfinished color hack that made the lane more wood-like. I wish that was finished. I tried to suggest an overhead bowler sprite hack so the game would play like you are above the lane looking down, but it didn't go over well. Sometime the nostalgia is best with the original release. My brother is a pro bowler, and a "from scratch" (well batari Basic) bowling game has been on my mind for a long time Bowling is a sport, right? Just read "why there are no homebrew sports games." Well, there is Blip that recreates LED football...
