Flojomojo #1 Posted June 14, 2014 I like this. Someone remade the Atari 2600 version of Berzerk for Android, with full controller (nvidia shield, for instance!) support. I thought the addition of internet memes was stupid but then I remembered the source game is 32 years old, so what's the harm in having a time capsule inside of a time capsule? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=thewholecake.manik It's free with no ads, tricks, or extra things to buy. Raticon #2 Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) I just tried it and i must say i find the onscreen controls absolutely abhorrent. I do not have any type of external controller though so i dont know if thats better. Edited June 18, 2014 by Raticon
Unbeliever #3 Posted June 19, 2014 I had issues with the controls as well. Played it for about 10 minutes then removed it from my phone. Although I did like the concept, I'll go back to my 2600 and play Berzerk there.
Raticon #4 Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) Same here. Love the concept but its simply not double for me with the screen. Maybe the kids of today can but if you are used to some form of controller with dpad or a joystick its not that easy Edited June 19, 2014 by Raticon
Flojomojo #5 Posted August 14, 2014 It's fun with the physical controls on an Nvidia Shield. It was also recently upgraded, and the developer is acknowledging the controls ... What's New I hear you loud & clear regarding the controls. This is still being addressed. In the mean time theres some new stuff: High Scores system You can get extra lives every 5000 points The extra levels with memes etc must now be enabled. Out of the box its just the Atari levels. Rex Dart #6 Posted August 27, 2014 Just 1MB? I'll give it a shot. Full controller support? I can't shoot, and the "O" button drops out of the game. Unplayable on my Xperia R800.
Flojomojo #7 Posted May 17, 2018 Did I mention that this was shut down years ago by the evil weenies at "Atari SA"?
RainbowCemetery #8 Posted May 17, 2018 how'd that happen? i don't know who owns berzerk now but i don't think it ever touched atari's hands
Flojomojo #9 Posted May 17, 2018 It looked a LOT like the 2600 port, which was Atari Corp's work. The developer got a DMCA takedown from Atari SA. It's still "out there" in grey market APK land, just not on Google. Might not work on modern Android, but you get what you pay for. It's still fun, and "Atari" is still staffed by asshats.
