Mclaneinc, is the latest files for download updated in the first post of this thread?

Or how or where can we go to make sure we have the lastest. My last attempt at this did not work on my machine, and I think it had to do with the files/updates I downloaded.

Yes, 1.2.0 Beta 3 is the all in one stand alone latest version..

If you are missing LOTS of games then remember to go to the ini dir and delete the baseinfoall.ini file and rerun the gamepack,,,

As said a few times, there ARE files missing and it may get fixed one day....

The favourites are part of the MDB files in the Gamebase / GBC_v11 folders, you could just copy that to another computer BUT that is the whole database with all the game names etc so it would over write their database so if it was not as current as yours you could have some issues....If its the same as yours then you could do it that way...

Strongly recommend backing up their database first

Thanks. I'll copy the whole 'a8bgp_1.1.0' folder then :) .

Hands off the trigger...The fat lady has not sung and she can keep a cork in it until me and Starwindz call time on it. Basically its all down to time and pressure and for both of us and those are still very heavy on our shoulders. Apart from the known issues that have been mentioned before I myself find me and my family either about to lose our flat OR its going to be refurbished from the ground up while we live here, either way its stressful as hell. Its sort of leaning towards the refurbishment with us staying in the flat as it happens. Imagine one of those mad DIY shows with workmen and women every where but us in the middle....It will be madness personified for a month or two or possibly 3 and then add to that I have our benefits system retesting me for fitness for work, I'm 55 have issues walking, climbing stairs is hell and my cervicular spondylosis is now hitting me ultra hard, the pain meds don't even cover the pain, just getting in and out of the car is an ordeal and yet if they get their way I'll be stacking shelves or just about anything that will make me worse. Really gets up my nose, I've worked a long hard time and done work so hard that it left me like this and still they want to flog the dead horse while most of my estate walk around dealing drugs and doing anything but WORK.

And all this is happening NOW :)

BUT, I still have hopes to return to the project and for that reason it stays paused but not dead :)

Thank you for watching the thread, as far as I'm concerned its not done, there's nothing impossible that I cannot do apart from learn a bit more about databases, its really the time and what is going on around me that is affecting everything.

But on a sort of semi positive note, my lot got me Uncharted 4 on the PS4 for my birthday which was on the 28th, I finally got to be pain free enough to play it for 15mins the other day and its lovely, a real gaming treat but 15 mins was my limit until I had to stop, I did however after the rest play a game of Jumpman and 2 mins of Spelunker :)

Today is the day I've dreaded but I now have to confirm I won't be able to update the Gamepack, in the last 3 weeks my health has got worse, the arthritis in my neck, shoulders and hands has made it very hard to do a prolonged typing session. We as a family also have renewed problems relating to my daughter health which although she's not in any danger the medical authorities are making her life hell and just as she's about to start her place in college.

Part of me has lost the impetus, between the pain and the issues with our daughter I just cannot see a way I can proceed and as my health is getting worse daily and a lot more painful I just feel its time to call it a day on my end, its unfair to prolong the notion that I can return to it any more.

I had a ball and made a great friend in Starwindz who created a wonderful gamepack that I had the pleasure of adding to, its been a blast but its call it a day time..

Off to take my medication AGAIN...God this getting old lark is unpleasant...

Huge thanks to all that helped in the gamepack and I hope it still gets played...

Sorry to hear of your continued health and family issues. Please don't stop posting here at least!

Thank you Stephen but at the moment it looks like things re my daughter are very seriously taking a turn to her well being, she's fine to a degree health wise but the people who are supposed to look after making making sure she's safe are trying admit her to a unit to put weight on, this is day's before she starts college to increase her education....

Its a bloody nightmare..

We did this before and its not good for her, she puts the weight on without the need of a hospital but that is all they care about and ignore her other issues which are NOT weight related...

I'm like my wife, terrified...These are people ticking boxes and not looking at the damage it does...

Thank you guys, things are pretty worrying here..

Thank you for the kind words but do remember that the real hero here is Starwindz who created and wrote the gamebase, I became his sidekick offering Altirra help etc and changing / editing what was in it, he did all the hard work..

Thanks to everyone who made this game pack, its brilliant.

Yes, arthritis is a pain in every sense, I also have cervicular spondylosis in my spine between C6 and C7 which causes even more pain as its flattened my spinal cord. Some days things are semi ok but its more due to the enormous level of pain relief which leaves me tired.

As for my daughter, spent all day in West Middx hospital so she could have a full paediatric assessment which was fine, shes low in weight but climbing and had low potassium which was replaced, she's in no health danger, does not need admitting and is on the mend....Thanks for nothing CAMHS!!

And lastly, can I take this chance to also recommend my friend Mark Hardnmans Gamebase called Atari Gamebase V12, there's links on here that still work but it needs a free account to be signed up with (its safe) with a download site like mega, rapidgator Uploaded etc. Marks gamebase which I helped a tiny bit with is a full database of as many games as possible, he has tirelessly spent a HUGE amount of time on it and its feature packed and great for people who want a really huge list of games where ours was a sort of A - Z of what we and Atariage members thought were classic games.

I use both and they are superb in combination for the real fan.

Paul.

Keep playing folks..

EDIT:

Went and found the links for Marks Gamebase...4Shared now want people to sign up for a free account, there's no spam that I know of from when I signed up but sadly that's the only way to get the GB at the mo..

The extras are not actually needed other than to complete the set but are great additions, the compose of manuals, music, adverts, solutions to games, maps for games and loads of really interesting bits and pieces relating to the games or Atari in general, Mark went to huge lengths to get as many of these extras as possible to make it a not just a gamebase but an experience, Starwindz also collected a huge lot for our gamepack, many the same or similar but each base / pack has its merits...

Thanks Stormy, I really enjoyed helping Starwindz and made a good friend at the same time, he's basically my twin in South Korea, we share the same taste in numerous things including our love of the Atari, music etc etc. He also sent Serena my daughter over some trinkets of the culture over there that she so loves (she starts college this week as long as CAMHS leave her alone and she's doing Japanese as one of her subjects, she loves all the Asian cultures).

A mini update on her is that we were told to take her to hospital for paediatric tests which took up the end of last week and right up to yesterday with the result being that she's stable, healthy and only had a slightly low potassium levl which is now fine after more blood tests. The main issue is how upsetting its been to her and the realisation just how far CAMHS were willing to go to section her against her will despite her being fine, I've made a massive complaint for the second time, despite her showing her anorexia is controlled / not being acted on they are attempting to paint a different story but thankfully we now have our GP's full support and medical evidence to show she is behaving perfectly well around food and keeping her body safe.

The people charged with her outside care are the very one's affecting her and destroying her self esteem.....Anorexia IS a very serious illness but but Serena isn't practicing any anorexic behaviour and is totally co-operative and doing all the right things, they should look for cases that actually need care and help them but they are following some warped procedure which while I'm able to I'll fight to the last breath in me...

On a more cheery note, she looking forward to college and I'm looking forward to a huge mug of tea :)

I can relate to the over-focussing issue in hospitals. A bunch of people looking at one thing to the exclusion of everything else. I just went through this with the hospital and my dad (and it ultimately killed him). I hope all goes well for you and your family.

Like they say: "without your health, you've got nothing."

And then there's the other one: "So much to do, so little time!"

Thanks for your kind words and I'm so sorry to hear about your father, these people look at figures and use them to control people and fail to look at the actual person and see what THEY need, instead they sit behind a desk and decide your future without a 2nd thought.

I don't know how these people can sleep let alone do their job...

I'm in a meeting with the people dealing with my daughter on Wednesday this week regarding our complaint and its the 2nd complaint re them so I'm looking for blood this time..

I just have had contact with my good friend Starwindz, creator of the gamepack, he has given me permission to tell you what has being going on with him.

After a long hard fight Starwindz father died of complications from bladder cancer, at the moment the family are grieving for him, that is why you didn't see any posts from him, I was aware of the situation but its only now I know his father died, I of course have passed on condolences to who I call my Brother in South Korea and to his family.

He also wanted me to confirm that because of this and his enormous work load as team leader in a very important engineering and technical design job involving at the moment a HUGE pump that he does not have the time to return to the forum but I quote him from his email "I believe I can surely be back to the forum someday since I love the gamepack and the forum."

So you never know, the old team may reunite one day but for now I person cannot plan that far ahead and Starwindz has enough to deal with.

Just stumbled upon this thread tonight.

I had an 800 as a kid. I got it a few years after my 2600.

I didn't do a whole lot with it. But I remember I had Pac-Man and a couple of other carts.

I also had the cassette player/recorder. I remember typing in programs from COMPUTE! magazine (I think) Most of them didn't work because of my bad typing. LOL.

This is an amazing project. I sincerely appreciate all of the time and hard work that has gone into this project. So much fun!.

I am also sorry to hear about the health problems and other issues that are going on that have hampered further updates of this project.

I am glad to have what you have done thus far. I obviously have not worked my way through this whole thread, but I will work on getting up to speed little by little.

Thanks again Starwindz & Mclaneinc this is truly amazing and I am looking forward to exploring all of the games that I owned and enjoyed and all of the games that I never knew existed.

You are most welcome, the whole idea of this was to give people some great fun without having to wade through loads of so so games, don't get me wrong, there's some seriously underappreciated games out there that look a bit rubbish but play superbly and we hope we grabbed those for the GB. For a larger more complete GB I really recommend Marks GB listed about 8 posts back. Its really a work of love with so many titles in it and I had a really tiny tiny hand in it but Marks work is stunning, he's dug out so many extra's and games it beyond great.

So you can pick from the cream of the crop from ours or discover an overlooked gem in Mark's...

Have some great fun..
