AV Colecovision kind of dark.....

I picked up a modded CV from a friend of mine who didn't want it anymore (he had two of them) and I noticed when I hooked it up to a CRT (not and HDTV) it was kind of dark. Darker than other AV consoles I have. I asked him about it and he didnt really have an answer for it other than he wanted to get rid of it cause its dark. I have other AV modded consoles but this doesnt happen on those. Any thoughts on that?

what type is the video mod?

 

the transistor mod, or the lm518 ic mod?

 

could be a bad component, it's hard to say. without it being here in my hands to look at it.

 

if it's the transistor mod, it would just be a leaky transistor that needs replaced. leaky just means the transistor internal values are not up to snuff.

if it's the lm518 ic, it could be ic or one of other components on the board.

 

could be a loose ground wire.

 

like I said I would need to look at it to be sure.
