phuzzed #1 Posted March 17, 2003 I recently was able to pick up Tempest 2000 for the PC. Is the PC version the same as the Jaguar version? If not, should I purchase a Jaguar w/tempest 2000 to enjoy the real deal?
kevincal #2 Posted March 17, 2003 YES!!!!!.....you need the real deal!...
bigferret #3 Posted March 17, 2003 I think the only version of Tempest 2000 that had any involvement from Jeff Minter was the Jag version so I think that speaks for itself. As to the PC version - it's not bad, it just doesn't have the same feel as the Jag version. Hell, I like T2000 better than Tempest 3000 on the Nuon, so I'm probably a bit biased. Just my two cents. Punisher5.0 #4 Posted March 17, 2003 I haven't played Tempest 2000 on any of the other systems or PC but from what I here the Jaguar version is the best. Supposedly, in the other versions the AI Droid is basically useless. Also, I don't think the tunes come from Imagitec like they do in the Jaguar version. The Jaguar version also has Rotary support. Those are some big factors there so I would say get the Jaguar version too .
Gunstar #5 Posted March 17, 2003 I have a friend that has/had Tempest X on the PSX, and although it had some more color "warping" in it, he said he liked the (hidden) tempest2000 version on the disk better, then he saw my Jaguar version and said it was better than both X and the hidden 2000 on the PSX! I've heard the PC version sucks compared to the Jag version, but I can't back that up, just heard it...
Razelim #6 Posted March 17, 2003 The PC version is bij far the worst version! Even de saturn version was better! The Jag version is nice... but I first played X3 on my PSX, and to be honest, I still prefer that version... maybe because of the high speed
+-^CrossBow^- #7 Posted March 17, 2003 I actually edge the Saturn version more. The gameplay is smoother on the saturn that on the Jag...which is choppy, at least on my Jag it is..and the soundtrack is cleaner on the Saturn than on my Jag. However, the voices on the Jag version sound cleaner and can actually be heard compared to the Saturn's version which the music drowns out. As for the AI droid...I haven't seen any difference in the smarts of it between the Jag and Saturn versions. The only thing the Jag version has over my Saturn version is the instand load up time. They both feature the same demo/attract sequences... Owning both...I really see nothing that makes either above the other...besides the gameplay/animation being smoother on my saturn version. Stone #8 Posted March 17, 2003 As for the AI droid...I haven't seen any difference in the smarts of it between the Jag and Saturn versions. It had intelligence? There was me thinking it just rotated around the grid firing continually... Stone

t.skid #10 Posted March 17, 2003 I bought PC version years ago at a discount price (I think 5 bucks), sealed, and... it's still sealed
Joey Kay #11 Posted March 21, 2003 Yeah... mine sits sealed on my desk... I just can't bear to crack it open... But the packaging Atari made sure is nice... I especially like the raised cardboard for the Atari Interactive logo! Cheers! Joey
