posyden81 #1 Posted July 12, 2014 Just got my first Jag . It didn't come with any games but I got my first few in mind (AvP, Wolfenstein, Doom, etc). Is there any homebrew games available for the Jag that are recommended? I know it's not the most stellar system but I'm excited to own it and start playing.
+xucaen #2 Posted July 12, 2014 Homebrew are all on CD so you'll need to buy a Jaguar CD unit. Gratz on your first Jag! Tempest and Iron Soldier are good games. Also Zool 2.
posyden81 #3 Posted July 13, 2014 Those are on the list as well Any recommendations on good sites to pick of games besides ebay/CL/goodwill?
+xucaen #4 Posted July 13, 2014 Best Electronics and a lot of Jaguar cartridges. I bought about 7 Jag carts from him, they arrived in almost perfect condition. Prices are generally what you might expect to pay on ebay. http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/jaguar.htm
Paul Westphal #5 Posted July 13, 2014 All the loose carts I bought from best were new. They also have the jag cd for 149.00.
+madman #6 Posted July 13, 2014 Best is a great source, you've also got B&C if you're looking for new games though sometimes their Amazon store is cheaper than their website. I've also acquired a chunk of my collection from the goat store, their grading on used games is always spot on. And of course there's always the marketplace here. +xucaen #11 Posted July 14, 2014 I think the cd console is a matter of opinion, and wealth. If I have the cash i'd get one, but at the same time I have strong feelings against getting one. Best do some research and decide for yourself. Best of luck to you!
Rick Dangerous #12 Posted July 14, 2014 Welcome to the party that never ends! Jaguar is fun to collects for because of new homebrew releases, less fun for your bank statement. Plenty of games go for $100 or more.. Thanks guys. I've been looking at Best Electronices. Is the Jag CD really worth it? YES!!! A handful of good regular release games, Homebrew capabilities, and VLM CD' playing!
posyden81 #13 Posted July 14, 2014 Well after I get a few of the carts that I'm looking for, I'll save up for the CD and check it out!
Songbird #14 Posted July 14, 2014 Songbird still produces and sells Jaguar carts and CDs, including Skyhammer, Protector SE, Robinson's Requiem, and more! Check out the site in my sig.
Rick Dangerous #15 Posted July 14, 2014 Songbird still produces and sells Jaguar carts and CDs, including Skyhammer, Protector SE, Robinson's Requiem, and more! Check out the site in my sig. Carl, The fact that you were able to get Robinson's Requiem on the Jag after all these years is amazing! I haven't picked it up yet but will be doing so shortly. Thanks again for pulling that together. While I'm at it, here's my list of other games that were on the 3DO that I would love to see on Jag CD: 1. Alone in the Dark (1&2) 2. Crash N' Burn 3. Gex 4. Need for Speed 5. PGA Tour Golf (no golf games on the jag) 6. Road Rash Just putting it out there
+save2600 #16 Posted July 14, 2014 Isn't there a Jack Nicklaus image for the Jag floating around? Thought that game was nearly finished...
posyden81 #17 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) Thanks Songbird! I will check it out after work today. edit: Just checked it out, anyone play Hyper Force? Edited July 14, 2014 by posyden81
Android8675 #18 Posted July 14, 2014 Thanks guys. I've been looking at Best Electronices. Is the Jag CD really worth it? Yep, makes your Jag look like a toilet. Worth it for that alone.
posyden81 #19 Posted July 14, 2014 I DO love toilets....
JaguarBrett #20 Posted July 15, 2014 I know everyone's opinion differs however I would first make sure you have: Raiden, NBA jam, Rayman, tempest 2000, Doom, Avp, power drive rally, etc. My favs currently are the songbird releases, I have them all, you can't go wrong. If you do get the Cd unit, World Tour Racing is also a great game. I just received Philia for the jag CD, be sure and grab it if you do get the cd unit! I also recommend best electronics for your jag cd, got mine brand new from them. Welcome to the Jag community!
Clint Thompson #21 Posted July 15, 2014 If you end up with a JagCD, I highly recommend Battlemorph. Cybermorph will most likely disappoint you but imo BM is far superior and really shows you the many different areas the Jag excels in and ultimately, it's a really good game if you're willing to take your time with it. SkyHammer and Zero 5 are really fun as well.
posyden81 #22 Posted July 15, 2014 I'll get a Jag CD eventually I think. I want to build the Jag library first though. Just bought my first 2 games today. Dino Dudes and Mcfur. Not on the top of the radar but the price was right.
Rick Dangerous #23 Posted July 16, 2014 Dino Dudes and Mcfur. Oh nooo!!! Please don't base your opinion of the jag on either of those games...... Additionally, stay away from: White Men Can't Jump Club Drive Checkered Flag Supercross 3D BRUCE LEE Zoop Until you are a confirmed Jagtard and anything seems good...because it's on the Jag!!!!

LOLOL...don't worry, I won't. I have played the Jag before and I know it's capable of good games. Doomwaves offered them for a good price so I picked them up. Clint Thompson #25 Posted July 16, 2014 Dino Dudes isn't too terrible but McFur will throw you for a loop and not a positive one I might add
