Rudy #1 Posted July 26, 2014 I have extracted batari 64 bit and 32 bit, stella, and although I haven't been able to yet will be transferring the text files I've been working with and I'd like a calculator shortcut in the folder. Is there anything else I need to get started? Thanks.
+Random Terrain #2 Posted July 26, 2014 Reading the getting started section is one thing that can be helpful, if you haven't done it yet: randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-batari-basic-commands.html#gettingstarted
Rudy #4 Posted July 26, 2014 I downloaded the current version and I'm going to download the manual also, thanks again.
Rudy #5 Posted July 27, 2014 I dragged some of the sample code to the executables but I couldn't get it to compile. Any advice? Thanks.
+Gemintronic #6 Posted July 27, 2014 Not a direct answer to your question. For me, there is no bB without VisualbB. I'd highly recommend using it. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/123849-visual-bb-1-0-a-new-ide-for-batari-basic/
Rudy #7 Posted July 27, 2014 Thanks for the idea I didn't consider vbb because I don't know visual basic. I guess I'll try it if I can't get bb to work.

I guess I'll try it if I can't get bb to work. Visual batari Basic is mentioned in the getting started section: Make bB More Fun If you are able to run Windows software, you'll probably also want to download Visual batari Basic (VbB). You can read more about it in the next section below which is called IDE for batari Basic. When you click on that link, it jumps to this section: IDE for batari Basic Visual batari Basic (VbB) is an IDE that makes it easier to create bB games. VbB is not the same as Crimison Editor. Besides the Code Editor, VbB has a Sprite Editor, a Playfield Editor, a Score Editor, a Music and Sound Editor, a Sprite Animator, a Title Screen Kernel Editor, and a lot more. Visit the Visual batari Basic Guide for more information. Especially check out this section: How to 'Install' Visual batari Basic on a Windows PC
Rudy #9 Posted July 27, 2014 I already downloaded bb so I'd like to try to get that to work given my lack of experience with vb. I have another idea I can try that I just thought of, I can see if the 32 bit version of bb I downloaded from the bb website works. I haven't tried it yet. Rudy #11 Posted July 27, 2014 I tried it turns out I was thinking of 32b stella which loaded I couldn't test it because I didn't check if I had any roms. Still can't run either the current bb or version 1.0. Maybe I need to try it on another computer. I'm disappointed I hoped to have this set up and working this weekend but it looks like that's not going to happen.

Rudy #13 Posted July 27, 2014 I got a break, I got up around 8:00am and installed vbb. I was able to compile with it (still not sure why bb didn't work) so I can use this now. Thanks again for the help!

Thanks again for the help! Since VbB uses bB, bB must be working.
Rudy #15 Posted July 27, 2014 I thought of that also I just couldn't get it to load code or compile no matter what I thought of trying!
Rudy #16 Posted July 28, 2014 I decided to focus on reading and taking notes on the online materials explaining the language now that I have the compiler set up; for instance I was working with some target code but it seemed the collision detection used by the program to tell when a hit was scored was a bit wonky, only scoring a hit sometimes. I'd like to know the language better to deal with situations like that before I actually try writing a first game or test.
