Repost of #2114.

How I notching the USB connector hole.

First, remove the "skirt" where the connector will be:

Now you have a nice flush surface to cut the notch out of in the thicker portion:

Next, get the nibbler, and make a couple nibbles:

Don't let the nibbler "bite" you!  (The handles have a tendency to pinch.)

Clean up the notch with an X-Acto:

It should look about like this:

And fit about like this:

Never knew you had to make a small cut for each cartridge cover.  I can now see how the process of making these can take some time.  Very much envy your hard work for us true intellivision fans.

It may not sound like much, but the total assembly time for firmware programming (phase 1 and 2), testing (phase 1 and 2), cart notching, cart assembly, box gluing, box stuffing, shrink-wrapping, etc... ends up being around ~20 min/unit, easily.  That's not counting add'l time for all the administrivia, shipping, etc.  It's also a lot slower if you don't have the rhythm down.

OK, I've sent out AtariAge messages to everyone I have on the AtariAge list, and email messages to everyone I have on my email list.

If you haven't received a message in one or both places and you think you're on the list, let me know.  I was going to post an updated AtariAge list, but seeing as there were very few add'l folks adding themselves, it didn't seem worth it.
