Did Infocom floppy disk games have copy protection?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering - did Infocom have any copy protection on the disks for the Atari computers? I remember back in the day the C64 copied them without a hitch, and no fancy nibblers and such, just straight disk copy.

Thanks!

Not that I know of... but all their games I had were copies. I had a sampler disk original, for whatever reason it had some stupid sector skew that made it read about 2/3rds the normal speed (although it wasn't a copy protection measure).

But even at the time of release, many of their titles had collector's status. They were one of the few companies that took pride in packaging and extras thrown in with their games.

Good to know - I just got a load of original disks (no boxes or extras), and was deciding if I should keep them, or include them with a system I'm selling.. If I kept them, I was thinking on including backups with the system.. Thanks!

Infocom adventures had the extra bits in the box as copy protection. Words in the papers/book inside the box of the game. Smell-clues.etc,...

Ahhh great.. That means unless I find these things on the net, the original disks are useless too!
