I agree. (no, I'm not being sarcastic. My whole problem from day 0 was all the frontin') :)

Right. If it had not been presented with that over the top, better than sliced bread, miracle of coding achievement kind of hype then we would at least have some respect for it. If it was presented with a desire for community input, then we would all be cheerleaders.

Latest response to my two word reply:

oh ok thanks Jonathan Halliday for the advice but we really don’t need it.

Here’s a little something for you to read and for you to post on AA while your thinking about it.
Our Solicitor has said to email you guys a warning first before we take legal action against all parties
involved in the cyberbullying and character deformation against RPC-GAMES! AUSTRALIA.
I’ll be emailing this to AL as well.
Is it really worth smashing AL’s dream because of your mouth and others on AA?
I feel sorry for AL. The website is probably his dream and you guys are going to destroy it
jut for a laugh against us. All you guys have to do is stop and leave us alone, it’s as simple as that.
If it stops I’ll retract the legal action. It takes about 2 weeks to file all the paperwork so I’ll see till then.
Pete
Manager
RPC-GAMES! AUSTRALIA

This lunatic rambling should be enough quell any lingering doubts...

cyberbullying and character deformation against RPC-GAMES! AUSTRALIA.

OH NOES! I posted sumfing bad about Windoze! I are bullying Bill Gates!!! I don't think this law was written to protect companies from negative reactions. It was written in case Suzy gets called a slut too many times on Facebook. Pete has ALWAYS presented himself as a company soliciting customers. Case dismissed.

If not, I cannot wait to see Steve take the stand.

Seriously, though, this guy is threatening Albert. That's a whole 'nuther level of oh no you didn't! in my book...

"I herd him talking to his solicitor this morning" ... this one is wrong in SO many levels...

I think this is now my "favorite phrase for crazy threads" here.. (make space you "envious snake").

Since I was invited to share this unintentional validation of my original point of view, here it is:
...
"Congratulations for ruining it again for all the Atari 8-bitters in the world."

What have you done flashjazzcat.. what have you done. That should be some kind of record x)

I always knew you were evil flashjazzcat, showing only glimpses of your amazing project, year after year, without an exe.. (like I'm one to talk...)

anyone else tempted to just *write the bloody thing* for a laugh?

Yes.. I'm torn between doing a pc version in Unity, GameMaker or plain C plus OpenGL, with procedural levels, a kind of 3d infinite runner with elements of elektra glide, encounter, stunt car racer, stealth (landscape).. plain but colorful graphics with good gameplay..

Or doing the worst possible version, in a "satire" kind of way (I think this is going to be the most difficult.. the original material doesn't leave much room to make it worse).

If only I have the time x)

Sounds like time for a programming contest.

Based on this description...

...write a game using any play method and style that incorporates the elements described above. (Like third-person view pole position, side scrolling moon patrol, pac-man maze, etc.) Entries will all be named after some form of *ENTRON 3D, with the exception that "C" cannot be used. BENTRON 3D, DENTRON 3D, etc.

I can see this inspiring a global game jam with Peter Molydeux and Notch...

Oh snap! They ARE lawyers, for the video game industry. This just keeps getting better. You know, I'm not usually inclined to stir someone else's Kool-Aid, but they (he) just might have it coming.

Oh .. it was a trap from some devious lawyers all the time, and we took the bait :)

Perhaps it's a bit childish from me but I really want to emphasize this:

When rpcgames posted his first posts here on AA both mclaneinc and I were very skeptical about the big words of rpcgames. He and I really got some trash over us by other members here who told us that we should encourage rpcgames etc etc.

In the meantime rpcgames released some YouTube movies so I kept my promise to him and did apology.

And I seriously regret I did that. Oh my ... I was right about this from the beginning and I when I will be skeptical again about something that really sounds to good to be true (in fact the start posts of rpcgames didn't sound to good to be true but they sounded to idiot to be taken serious!!!!).

This project only knows losers, and every word spent is one word too much.

So here is the childish respond: I told you so!

Sorry for that

It's entirely possible the game is finished and does function.

The problem I (and likely plenty others) have with this guy/s is he came in here carrying on as if the Atari scene didn't exist and expected us to all bow to his greatness as if he was making the only game to be released for years.

Then the carry-on once the criticism started rolling.

Not to mention the audacity of expecting people to pay for something that doesn't look like it'd be a match for the dozens of freely released games we in fact do have each year, let alone some of the ones that are pay-to-own and are of qualiy that genuinely warrants purchase.

HAHAHA!

"CyberBullying"

Really?

This is obviously something dreamed up by lawyers who cater to totally liberal yuppies who can't stand to see their 10 year old daughter get hazed/ridiculed on facebook by all her 4th grade school mates.. And are willing to throw ridiculous amounts of money towards any end for their spoiled assed child, regardless of sound reason or lack thereof..

Is he seriously asserting that this could be made to apply to a public online forum of people, on behalf of a so called "company" that never stands to gain a penny of revenue for their hilariously juvenile crap-code?

(Never mind the fact that he in fact BROUGHT the shit-ware concept in here and started an open discussion about it of his own accord.)

It appears we have a new "token-retard"..

Maybe he's from some "socialist" place and has a hard time grasping the concept of "freedom of speech"..

Even if this is the case, it certainly wasn't too smart threatening the forum, itself, or it's admins (who usually do a reasonably good job of shutting down any sort of undue ridicule/offensive posting.)

LMAO - I guess it's time to hand over my "envious snake" crown then. Who should get the award for breaking PeteSteve?

Actually, that law was created to protect people (most often young people) from the frankly brutal attacks they can face online from genuine bullies. The law was written to protect people, however in this case I don't believe that law applies to the situation.
