Got a Fairchild Channel F but cart doesn't work?

Recommended Posts

Hey, so I snagged a Fairchild Channel F, original verision.

Came with two carts, number 1 and number 3.

Number 3 works fine (blackjack) but number 1 is not working...

Behavour: after hitting reset, you get the standard prompt to choose the game of which this cart should have 4.

Selecting 1 redraws half the screen black with some white dots flailing about , then the other half, and then it "resets" itself prompting for "G?" again....

Selecting any of 2-4 just seem to blank the screen and reset to "G?" again...

Anyone have a clue as to of these are standard symptoms or jus a plain old broken cart?

Thanks!!

Owner, yes. Player, no. I bought mine defective and haven't taken the time to fix it/find another one.

It could be dirty connectors (if you try to clean them, make sure you dont have any static electricity built up on you as the carts are very sensisitive to static discharge just like the console). Or the rom chips are corrupted on the cart. does it rattle if you shake it? if so, the cart is toast as that rattle could be the hard plastic cover fairchild glued over the chip to keep it from being exposed to light. It would take a long time for the chip to be damaged, but you have no idea how long this cart has sat out in the open over the years.

Regards,

Willie!
