Have there been any modifications done to an Atari 1050 to use a replacement power supply to feed the + 12 and + 5 volts. If you have photo's this will help. Or if you could send me a link Please. Thanks Ray A 1050 just uses a 9V AC power supply. 15 VA/20 watts You see the power port at the back. Best and/or B&C would have one. Yes, modifications include a HAPPY or a USDBLR. Rybags Posted August 22, 2014 Share Posted August 22, 2014 Mine still has the original. I guess you could use a PC supply but of course that's not very practical. Many 3.5" external powered HDDs use a brick that supplies +5 +12 VDC although the Amperage mightn't be sufficient. Rybags Posted August 22, 2014 Share Posted August 22, 2014 I'm not sure how the Amiga supply would like the lack of demand... some of the older PSUs need to be kept under a certain load condition - fairly sure the 1050 only uses +12V for the motors which are inactive most of the time. Personally I'd probably try one from a modern external drive - just checked one of mine, it does 2 Amps on both voltages which should be enough. It uses a four socket sorta rectangular, clear plastic, about 1 inch wide female plug. I'd be interested in a picture of the Australian 1050 power port. I made up a 10% dummy load for the one in dropbox ""abysmal regulation"" even at 10%. I will have to go with a PC Power Supply The plugs are what i will be using as I have plenty.
