retroillucid #1 Posted September 1, 2014 Here's a project I had in mind since 2009, Wrath of the Shurikens / Shuriken no ikari A Ninja game inspired from those games: - Tarzan - Pitfall - Megaman - Ninja Gaiden I decided to go on with this project (wich I'm currently working on) So far, the main character is done as well as the Stage 1 (on a total of 5 Stages) Backgrounds are done for all Stages except Stage 4 I need to work on Enemies, Bosses, Items The game will use the MegaCart (won't fit 32K obviously) I'm expecting to use something around 256K I'll post progress in this thread during the whole development So feel free to post your suggestions, comments etc.. Here's Stage 1
+Tarzilla #2 Posted September 1, 2014 I don't know what you have planned for the rest of the levels but I think it needs more up and down screens. Tarzan was one of my favorite games but I always wanted to go up a screen or two to the tops of the trees or down into some caves instead of straight left to right. Also I'd like to see being able to backtrack to previous screens. For instance: to get to some out of reach object you have to go two screens right, up one or two, back left two screens. The graphics style looks great. I'd love to know where you find the time!

Kiwi #4 Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) I was in a mood one day and felt like wanting to make a Megaman like game for the Colecovision. So I remember JF showing me the ninja game. So I decided to build a game engine based on what I learned on building Rock Cutter to start making this game. Just now I finished inputting the level data. <--click to animateI just need to add the background tiles. Then work on putting enemies in. The game engine allows back and forth screen transition. Also will add in top and bottom transition as development goes on. Edited September 2, 2014 by Kiwi

Raccoon Lad #13 Posted September 2, 2014 Looks like the shuriken throwing animation is a little off. The feet should remain planted, and the head/body should shift forewards slightly.

Kiwi #15 Posted September 3, 2014 Looks like the shuriken throwing animation is a little off. The feet should remain planted, and the head/body should shift forewards slightly. Nice catch. I went ahead and fixed that. Bamboo Forest background is work in progress.
Pixelboy #16 Posted September 3, 2014 Okay, now I just have to ask: Shurikens are inanimate objects, so how/why would they want to inflict their wrath on anyone or anything?

youki #20 Posted September 3, 2014 I'm always amazed by the graphism that guys like J-F , Luc and Kwi are able to do. the animition of the Ronin is amazing. I agree with Luc about the Title... Wrath of the Ronin , would make more "sense". Ronin in addition being a Samourai without master, is also a type of Shuriken, i think. Or something like : "The Revenge of the Rusty Shuriken"
Nognir #21 Posted September 3, 2014 Wow this Looks great! I'm sure I will buy it, but I also will be cursing because I'm really not good at Jump'n'Runs

NIAD #23 Posted September 4, 2014 Ah, just name it Mini Ninjas. On second thought, leave well enough alone as you don't want Eidos sending a C&D letter.
imstarryeyed #24 Posted September 4, 2014 This game looks cool. It really reminds me of Kid Nikki Radical Ninja. I loved that game with it's secret warps and passages. I hope it will have some catchy tunes like Kidd as well.

I also like Kid Nikki Radical Ninja , it sure got some inspiration from that game as well It also got inspiration from The Mystical Ninja on N64 (Ganbare Goemon) Yeah, I hope to have at least 6-7 tunes The name of the game remain to Wrath of the Shurikens I'm not going to change the name of the game
