+D Train
Not sure if this is the right place to ask... I've got a wonky light sixer and don't really know enough about these things to tell what's wrong with it, if it can be fixed, or whether it needs to be junked. Is there a forum topic for that? Or are there people in the community who can take a look (for a price, of course)? I am in Brooklyn, so if anyone with skills/interest is in NYC maybe we could meet up? If there is a topic for this I apologize for misposting; feel free to move the post to a better location. thanks! david
BigO
I don't think there's a specific topic. If you give a description of the problem, people here may be able to guide you through some troubleshooting and repair steps.
fiddlepaddle
Oh! It's "Wonky". Clearly, it's an operator or hardware problem, possibly configuration related. Turn it off and back on again. See if that fixes it.
chas10e
yeah it's worth keeping / fixing !!!! I will agree a better description of what the unit does / doesn't do hopefully it'll be an easy fix on your own could be just a dirty cart or a bad TV switch box .... http://atariage.com/howto/index.html
+D Train
When I plug in a cartridge, I get video and sound for a few seconds, but then I lose video. I'll check to see if I lose sound as well. I don't believe that it's degraded to the point where I don't get anything when I plug in a cartridge, but I'll check that also. I don't know whether that's a symptom of loose connections, or parts dying or what. So that's my issue. thanks everyone!
iesposta
If it starts up with the game then gets snowy and unplayable it is probably this green capacitor. .22uf or .10uf depending on woodgrain model. See my picture here. Ignore the wires and the LED in the switch, it is the green capacitor above the power regulator (which is the next part that goes bad, but I have never had that happen yet). http://atariage.com/forums/topic/229397-snowy-screen-probably-no-power-help-please/?p=3065912
+D Train
If it starts up with the game then gets snowy and unplayable it is probably this green capacitor. It starts up but then goes black, so that's not quite it. I'm at work now, but I will power up the system sometime this weekend and see if I can present a better description of what's going on.
