I LOVE IT. One of my favorite games. My personal best is only 61K, so I'm no Botbird, but I certainly don't mind trying to get there! All motivation to keep playing Robot Tank is gone...

Joy! I tell ya. figuring out I could hide behind the castle wall for protection made a BIG difference. Breaking 10k took me about 12-15 runs.

I couldn't break 10k yesterday. I used to be amazing at this game. I thought it was because this game requires precise control like River Raid (which luckily I have on my Flashback 2+).

 

After some practice, I remember what I was doing wrong. Don't pay attention to your guy or the fireballs much (on the dragon screens). You should mostly be looking at the Dragon. Always be moving in the opposite direction it is going.

And, If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure I got 250k once, but that took like 1hr and a half.

I thought that all his scores were thrown out (or was it only scores verified by a specific ref?). He still has an impossible high score for Fathom which ends when you beat the 7th level. The max score is in the 10k-20k range. His score is 100x the maximum.

Wow! This game is much easier on 50 frames a second on Stella 3.9.3. (and later with the actual PAL rom)

 

Maybe I should submit 2 scores, one for PAL and one for NTSC.

regardless of all else, a # of TR scores are not acceptable in our context because according to himself he used any exploit possible, glitches, etc., if they weren't yet banned by Twin Galaxies.

 

I think many of his scores are legit but AA seems more reliable to me than TG anyway so Frostbite76 score of 182k is the "world record" I'm looking at for Dragonfire.

The percentage on Twin Galaxies appears to be the ratio between that players score and the current world record. For example, if the world record is 100,000 then that player has (100%), if second place has 56,000 they would have (56%), and so on.

Just to get on the board. 5 minutes time to play this week, looking up the rom and downloading the game included . I even have the cart, but it would have taken too long to dig it out of the box, fire up the console, take a photo, get the photo into the computer...

 

Game 1 B/B: 4110.

 

Double Points weeks are coming at a very busy time of the year. But I'll be damned if I don't even try to stay in the top 15 for the season.

Still not back too my old self yet. Back on a real system (with a decent controller), I was able to top 100k before I quit. I figured by that point I had mastered the game and moved on to other games. I think I have the movement pattern down to keep the fireballs to a minimum and make dodging easier. The PAL version on the other hand has me dying of boredom. The interminable slowness makes we want to plow in to fireballs to break up the monotony.

Pro tip: Try not to lose your first life until about 100k. Afterwords, lives dont matter.

 

Well I achieved my goal of getting highest atariage dragonfire score, and my highest recorded score. Hopefully I'll get 300k next, even though that would take too long.
