+Larry #1 Posted September 9, 2014 Is there a one-byte, or more likely, two-byte version number embedded somewhere in the MyDos system files? -Larry
1050 #2 Posted September 9, 2014 Nope. Only 'M' at 700 as 'S' is for Sparta. But DUP.SYS has the menu screen data which does contain the 4.50 text as an example, but it's location can tend to wander among versions. 2A3D for 4.50, 2A47 for 4.53_4, 2B26 for 4.55 beta4. No forethought given to the issue at the beginning and time seems to only flow forward so it appears to be unfixable at first glance. I assume this is for a program you are contemplating? If so, what is the issue behind your question? More details on why you want version number in other words.
+Larry #3 Posted September 10, 2014 Hi Lee- No, just my curiosity. But that does suggest a related question -- how does MyDos know (if it does) whether or not the DUP.SYS version being loaded is properly paired with the correct DOS.SYS. Or, if incorrect, it will just likely crash? -Larry
tschak909 #4 Posted September 10, 2014 Does it? Better check that theory. Replace MYDOS DUP with an Atari DOS DUP. -Thom
