I guess this should be added to my message to sellers when buying an item: "Please do not break the original packaging down in an attempt to save space!" Here are some others, "Please do not tape the original box." "Please do not ship the item in its original box." Recently I had a game box closed with tape after my freight forwarder opened it to take a picture of the cart. I'm actually glad it was a common one....
