I haven't brought this up yet, but let me ask you guys. Most of the adapter cables I'm making use black heat shrink tubing in the middle of the cable where the cable has been cut, re-wired and re-soldered.

I've been making a few with colored heat shrink tubing (as I did for some at CGE), but I'm now also adding color accent tubing to the cable ends - just before the cable goes into the plugs at the ends. A few I've sold have gone out this way already.

I could also do different color combinations on the same cable - black in the middle, color on the ends, etc.

What I'd like to know is whether the general consensus is black is best, or is color more fun / interesting? And does it even matter to those buying the cables?

Oh you shouldn't have added colors. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'VE DONE?

You created variants and now Rev will be ordering a set in every color.

Hahaha! You make a good point. But yeah, I know who I'm dealing with here...

The way I'm doing it now, there's kind of a surprise factor when you buy the adapter cables. You have no idea which ones you'll be getting. So everyone has a chance to have some different cables. Just wondering if that really matters to anyone (other than Rev and Cmart).

But what will be the final color ratio and quantities of each?

I don't have an exact count, but I can say at this point, about 75% have been all black.

Going forward, about 2 out of 10 that I make will be color. And I have begun keeping track of the numbers as well - because I figured someone here would want to know! (read: Rev, Cmart) :D

That's why he did it! Great business move. C-Mart and Rev will buy anything! :)

No, I know Paul doesn't think that way. great product, I have purchased a few myself. Outstanding work on these adapters!

More are shipping out tomorrow. I'll update the thread then too.

Question to my Canadian Intellivision friends...

What's the best / most economical way to ship to you guys? In checking the USPS website, looks like it's gonna cost around $20 for a "small" size Priority Mail box that weighs 9 ounces (going from Los Angeles to BC). Wow!

I could go the padded envelope route I guess, but I don't want the cables to get damaged.

A trick i use when shipping something light to Canada but still want to give it more protection is to take some old random cardboard/box and cut out a small piece and wrap the item with it and it's usually still small enough to fit into a bubble mailer or polybag. And it's still light enough to go cheap.

Just shipped one today to BC, Canada in a padded mailer. It was about half as much.

Hmmmm....Cmart ruminates on the giant list of controller cables Paul has to make and while he's pleased that this product has gone over so well he can't help but wonder how Paul will be able to get EP14 in the can for Halloween. Also Cmart wonders why he's referring to himself in the third person :)
