Sapicco #1 Posted September 27, 2014 Wanna pick one of these up because I'm bored with the portables I have. Anyone an expert on this system? What are the must have games that I can buy? Ps, I only know English.

What are the must have games that I can buy? Ps, I only know English. The Wonderswan/Color/Crystal is a great little cheap handheld and deserves more recognition than it does. Now before you go out and buy one,do know that they are very small.I very seldom play mine because of how small it is but get this,it's barely smaller than a original GBA and I find the size of those to be fine so maybe it's the plastic the Wonderswan Color uses I don't know. Now as far as English games,I found a list from Hunged13,a member here:http://atariage.com/forums/topic/192439-my-list-of-playablefor-non-japanese-speakerswonderswan-games/.Not that many games for English speakers(some of the real gems are most likely in Japanese) like you and me but it could have been smaller . famicommander #4 Posted September 28, 2014 I love the Wonderswan systems. Here are some of the games I have, all playable (they're either in English or playable without having to read): Digimon Frontier: Battle Spirits (fighting game) Digmon Tamers: Battle Spirits (there are two versions, version 1 and 1.5; both fighting games) Digmon Anode and Cathode Tamer: Veedramon Version (only the Veedramon version is English; one of the only English RPGs on the system) Final Lap Special (racing) Golden Axe (beat em up) Guilty Gear Petit (fighting) Guilty Gear Petit 2 (fighting) Gunpey (puzzle) Gunpey EX (puzzle) Judgement Silversword (really expensive, but an amazing bullet hell shooter) Kinnikuman Nisei: Dream Tag Match (known as Ultimate Muscle in English, wrestling game) Mr Driller (puzzle) One Piece: Grand Battle Swan Colosseum (fighting) Rhyme Rider Kerorican (rhythm) Rockman EXE WS (Mega Man action platformer) Rockman and Forte: Challenger from the Future (Mega Man and Bass follow up) Tetris (puzzle) SD Gundam Operation UC (scrolling SHMUP) Beatmania (rhythm) Crazy Climber (arcade) Buffers Evolution (action platformer) Space Invaders (shmup) Kaze no Klonoa: Moonlight Museum (2d platformer) Makaimura for Wonderswan (WS exclusive Ghosts N Goblins game) Pocket Fighter (fighting) Puyo Puyo 2 (puzzle) Puzzle Bobble (puzzle) That isn't all of them, but that's pretty much all the ones I own (off the top of my head, anyway) I would suggest investing in a Swancrystal if you're getting into the system. I have a frontlight modded Color but the image quality is still much lower than an unlit Crystal. The Crystal uses the same reflective TFT technology as the NGPC so it's much easier to see, and it isn't nearly as blurry as the older models. I wish the system had made it out of Japan. If SNK and Bandai/Koto had collaborated on one system instead of making competing handhelds they might have held out pretty well against the GBC/GBA. They could have had Sonic, Final Fantasy, Digimon, Metal Slug, PacMan, Mega Man, Tetris, KOF, Puyo, Bust a Move, Beatmania, Dragon Ball, Golden Axe, GNG, SNK v Capcom, Tekken, etc all on one system before any of those franchises made it to GBA.
Austin #5 Posted September 28, 2014 The problem with the Wonderswan is that that good English-friendly games aren't that cheap (or at least not cheap compared to the GB or GBA). Some of the games are tough to find as well. Does anyone make a flash cart for this thing? That's something I've never bothered to look into, but if one exists, it would be a lot easier to justify picking up a Wonderswan. Standard B&W units are dirt cheap, although the Crystal units are a bit pricier.
Sapicco #6 Posted September 28, 2014 Weren't you please with the NGPC by any chance? How did you make out with the sound issue on your unit? Anthony... Good memory! I ended up returning it. But, may grab another because the prices are cheap. But, this wonderswan has now caught my attention!
fdurso224 #7 Posted September 28, 2014 Good memory! I ended up returning it. But, may grab another because the prices are cheap. But, this wonderswan has now caught my attention! I'm sorry the first unit didn't live up to expectations and happy that you were able to get your funds back! Maybe in the future, the interest will come up for the NGPC again with a better experience! As for the Wonderswan, I have two boxed unit and have them in storage for collecting purposes! Someone beat me to listing the games that are mentioned above! Yes its worth investing into those games and the unit itself! Anthony...
