question on the XEGS power supply.

long time member been absent for years.. lol long story.. anyway, I dug out the old xegs no power supply is their a viable alternative as in DIY say with a jamma supply. or must I order a oem replacement? Thanks in advance!

5 volts 1.5 amps clean dc is all you need.. just about any decent quality power supply will do.

A smallish older ATX generally works for me, just beware that some ATX supplies need a load to work properly. Also, don't assume the colors of the wires are right. red is usually 5V, but I've heard some stories of it being 12V on some supplies and killing ataris.

I would never dream of connecting anything without using a meter on it first! Imagine getting the wires reversed. 5 volts reverse polarity can cause plenty of damage!

Remember these things run on smoke... if you let the smoke out, it's broke and won't work anymore! :P
