Flashback Groupon

Recommended Posts

I just found this out today, there is a Groupon available for the Flashback. Very limited time (should be 5 days IMO) but in case you have a relative that doesn't have a Flashback yet like you, maybe you can persuade them with this:

I got that coupon, but it says that the "retail price" is $59.99 and it discounts it to $39.99. That strikes me as bullsh*t since everywhere I've seen it, it sales for $39.99 already.

Good point DZ. I pre-ordered and it was $39.99 but I had to pay tax/shipping on top IIRC.

I bought mine in Toys-R-Us and they were $39.99, no shipping at the store. In the Dollar store, they were the same price.

That's just the TRU Tax. You think it's bad on electronics, you should see the markup on licensed LEGO sets... :-o

I've never heard this word before. What is a groupon?

It's a way for people to think they're getting a "deal" when in fact they aren't. It was all the rage a few years ago (I had friends who basically wouldn't leave their house unless it was part of a groupon); I'm surprised they haven't gone bankrupt yet.

Remember how your mom used to clip coupons from the newspaper? Same idea but web-ified. And a lot of the same basic bait-and-switch tactics. Raising the price so that the coupon looks like a deal, or just fooling people who don't realize that the groupon'd price can be had with 5 seconds of shopping around. At least that's what it's becoming more and more. In the early days, businesses would offer HUGE deals just to get customers, lose a shit-ton of money but hope they'd get repeat business out of it, and then piss off these very people when they realized how ungodly expensive the regular price was.

Sumbitches! It's like everybody is conspiring to make it look like the price was higher just to say that they lowered it, when 39.99 has been the price for about a month. Sheesh!

I can tell you I bought 4 last month and they were all at 39.99. I also saw the non-Intellivision at the dollar store for the same price.

Yeah, I was out browsing to see about helping someone get an IntyFB and lo and behold, the same TRU that had them back in August at 39.99 inflated them by $5!
