In a practical sense, using the 8-bit for real-world applications, APE provides you with access to modern (USB) printers. With hi-speed SIO, you can load something like SI2 (240 SD sectors) in 5 seconds. This is generally fast enough for everyday use, where the system sits there waiting for keyboard input most of the time.

 

Most of my 'output' is to a printer, so APE is the only way to go.

 

If I am moving a *lot* of files/disks, I just go eat dinner while it runs.
