Radio Shack no longer sells the F type to RCA adaptor

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, I wasn't sure where to post this. I wanted to let everyone know that Radio Shack no longer sells the F type to RCA adaptor. I asked them about the two that they used to sell on Facebook and after they escalated my question, I got this response today:

Just wanted to let everyone know.

They still sell it. But, they changed it to a 2-pack only affair earlier in the year when they were reducing SKUs. I managed the Menomonie, WI store until they closed us last week. I don't recall the new SKU off the top of my head. But, that's what you're looking for.

Or, support Atariage, of course :)

Radio Shack only sells 4 things: Cell Phones, Laptops, Headphones and Batteries.

If you want anything other than that, look elsewhere.

They have other stuff. At least mine does.

Well, they do, of course, but their selection of electronics outside of these categories has diminished significantly over the years. Especially the selection of electronic parts that used to be a staple of these stores, years and years ago. Fortunately I have a Fry's Electronics that has a much better selection of electronic parts, but I wonder how long that will last.

That's weird. I bought mine there about a month or so ago. I needed it to hook up my Magnavox Odyssey 2 and I did not want to wait three weeks for a package from China. I don't like RS, but sometimes you have no choice...

I buy those adapters 5 at a time for about $1.30 each, shipped, from Monoprice. The cheapest I've ever seen them locally (in the last 3-4 years) is $6 for two of them.

I had basically the same thought. Upon seeing the thread title I was like, "Radio Shack still sells things other than cell phones?"

I seem to remember buying one of those recently at my local Radio Shack, but that just might have been old leftover stock.

(And yes, I think I did have to refuse yet another offer for a cellphone when I bought it.)

Meh I got like a 10 pack of the things for a few dollars from a Chinese import online retailer, took forever but hey I'm good on these things.

It was only discontinued a few months ago, just because it's discontinued doesn't mean there still isn't stock in some stores. Once your local store sells out, they'll not longer have it.

That's a great article. It really sheds some light on Radio Shack's downfall. It would be kind of sad to see Radio Shack die, if it hadn't already been effectively dead for many years. But man... did I spend a lot of time there as a kid. Especially in their Computer Center.

Here's an interesting article on the 'Shack from 30 years ago. At the time, the article says that they had "a severe image problem". I've never known them not to. But for a time, they at least had some measure of usefulness.

Every one of these I've ever bought came through the AtariAge store... or at the AtariAge booth. :D

Radio Shack ceased to exist here in Canada a few years ago. The remaining stores are now called "The Source". There are basically just cell phones, but the store near my place has a small selection of video and audio cables -- a bit broader than Wal-Mart or Future Shop, but nothing like they used to be.

I'm trying to recall some of things I acquired from RS back in my youth... I think I had a set of walkie-talkies that was the Realistic brand. But my favorite thing was probably the electronics hobby kit from which I set up a working radio.

Keatah said it right.

RS used to be a real source for tinkerers, of which there are fewer than and fewer as years go by.

BITD a guy could fix his own radio.

Nowadays nobody fixes a broken IPod or Sirius Radio.

Modern tech stuff is less repairable.

Less parts bought.

Tech gear is disposable stuff today.
